Hey all,

I'm kinda stuck what scheme to paint my Elves. They're currently a light-blue silver (second hand) and whilst it's really nice it's a bit cold for my liking.
If anyone has any pictures (links to examples or your own) of some cool schemes that suit the models nicely that would be great to see. I remember back in the RotK 'Best of White Dwarf Magazine' there was a dark green and silver scheme, which looked nice, but I can't access it whilst I'm at uni, if anyone's got a picture of it that would be great also.
I was also considering an autumnal kinda thing, but then the armour has to be gold I guess and I really don't like overdoing the amount of gold on a model.

Long story short, any cool pictures and ideas?

(I know there used to be a thread where people posted pics of painted Elves but I can't find it.)

Cheers. :)

EDIT: Can a Ringwraith move this to the Painting subforum please?

Hi ,

I know the topic you mean, but I can't find it either, I searched almost all WIP pages but my eyes did not see it..
I only know the tomes of wisdom guides, kb.php?c=7&&start=25

maybey they can be helpfull, but if you want an autumn scheme I advice Elronds armour in the hobbit

Thanks for that picture. Kinda Tin Bitz mixed with a bit of red from what I can see.
Shame all the painting guides are for bog standard blue and gold schemes. :(

I havn't uploaded many up close pictures but in my WIP which is in the sign off below I have painted my High Elves with Silver armour, Grey robes and Red cloaks. With the hero's I used White as the cloak and Red as the robes. I think it makes a rather stunning look. I am not the best painter but the last tournament I went to I won best painted with my High Elves because of the look the Red and Silver gives. If you have any specific questions about them, like what colour or better pics just ask :)

Thanks very much Rigg. I'm not a white expert (don't think anyone is), but would you mind sharing how you painted the red?
Also what kinda wash on the silver makes it fit in without making it look rusty?

Personally, I achieved this 'autumnal' armour look like this =

Base = Runelord Brass
Wash = Doombull Brown + Nuln Oil(1:2)
Layer = Runelord Brass
Highlight = Runelord Brass + Runefang Steel (1:1)

I looks identical. And the interesting sea-green cloth can be achieved with Caliban Green and Ushabti Bone. Just steadily build up about four layers adding a little more Ushabti Bone in each progressive layer.

For my standard High Elf warrior ( and which of the isn't) I go w/ the blue and gold+ silver highlights, and a bright white sash.

BUT
I have experimented w/ a variety of colors, try pink and whites for hint of femininity. Then there is a green color scheme, for a more woodsy feel.

as for chainmail, base coat silver, wash w/ a light black ( make your own ), then highlight w/ more silver.
