I thought about making a Scatha mini. I want him being quite serpent like but I'm not sure on how many limbs I should give him (if any) or if I could give him wings.

Any thoughts?

Also Should I make him larger than the average dragon or cave drake and go for something mumak sized?

I'm looking for something bigger and less typical dragon like. I know an actual miniature isn't out there for what I'm after and that I'll have to make it myself out of either lots of green stuff and wire or some plastic lizards.

Thanks for the link though, it's a great mini that's just made it on my wish list :)

This is a useful article for you, then: kb.php?a=187

The following image was made by Tolkien himself, so should be quite close to how he imagined his (wingless) dragons.

From the picture, I would estimate the dragon's length to be some 20 meters (if the warrior is somewhat less than 2 meters).

Scatha is called the Worm, so he didn't have wings. He very likely did have legs, however (Glaurung, for instance, was also called Gold-Worm of Angband but did have 4 legs). So, 4 legs and no wings would be the way to go.

Sounds like an awesome project by the way! I'm looking forward to seeing this progress. :)

What about this one

Image

Its the old Grenadier Oriental Dragon

The original comes up on eBay but it can also be got from Mirlton in Italy or Vexillia in the UK as they are being recast

Right so I've looked around. I now know roughly what I want him to look like. I'm not a great sculptor so that's out of the question for now.

My two options are.
Buy a toy fellbeast and take all my evil looking cutting tools to it.

Or

Buy a toy monitor lizard/komodo dragon and take all my evil looking cutting tools to it.

Either way all I'll have to do is add some greenstuff and some plastic warhammer dragon bits and wollah.

I'll make a WIP thread when I begin!

Thanks for the help guys.
