If your painting skills are up to it you could try painting a thin white pattern around the border of the shields (or a line instead) to add some detail.
Something like this:

Hi. I am just finishing up painting a box of warriors of Erebor. I have gone for blues on the main clothing and dark silver with a heavy black wash for the armour. I am happy with the results so far but I am struggling with the shields. I have painted a couple blue to match the clothing but I don't feel it works. I think maybe the shields look too plain and am looking for inspirational to how to make them stand out a bit more. Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers. |

U could paint the shields metallic..and give m a few shades or washes blue..ive tried this on armored kili..looks pretty cool in my opinion |
