What is the best model to represent Thranduil, King of Mirkwood with armour? Would the (Hobbit) Thranduil, King of Mirkwood or Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm be better? |

Although I dislike finecast, I'd say the most recent Thranduil is the best armoured version. It's called 'Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm', and cost £27 in the UK, which is admittedly quite pricy. But I saved £18 by selling the mounted version seperately after my purhcase, so technically I only paid £9 for the single miniature. |

The only model with normal armour would probably be the old (Lord of the Rings era) sculpt - the Hobbit versions either have no or heavy armour. That being said, the seeminglly unarmoured models could easily wear some light armour underneath their robes, while the second version's armour could probably be classed as normal rather than regular armour. I would probably prefer the 'unarmoured' models, as these are for the profile which has the optional equipment, while the latest figure would directly be associated with the even scarier profile. |

The old LOTR Thranduril, King of Mirkwood is wearing scale armor but I think he's OOP and you'd need to find him second hand. For the newer Hobbit Thranduil, King of Mirkwood and Thranduil, the Elven King are both in robes, although the torsos look "segmented" enough that you could probably paint that as a breastplate. The Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm is actually wearing plate armor, although as was said above this set is a bit pricey as it includes both a foot and mounted version. |
