Hi, I'm new to the Lord Of The Rings Strategy Battle Game but have played Warhammer 40'000n for numerous years now. I was wondering if there was any where preferably in or near Manchester where people met to play the game but mainly at the moment i am just learning the rules and looking for help on writing army lists (i'm not sure if that's what they are called). Anyway any help is appreciated thanks.

p.s. i don't know if i posted this in the right place please move it to where it is relevant thanks again

:)

Well unfortunately Farnworth isn't reasonably near Bury. Do you know somewhere nearer within reasonable distance from yourself?

On Thursdays, I have a university lewcture in the evenings from 6.30pm-8.30pm. Mondays and Wednesday's are better, but not next monday as I have to prepare for a timed assignment, but I only have one timed assignment in the entire course as yet, so I will likely be available later. I myself prefer larger games than 250pts.

I typically play 700pts. It's just that GW are running a campaign that begins at 250pts so the idea would be to play a 250pt game for the campaign then a few larger ones.

Would you never do 1,000, 1,200 or 1,500 though?

Small pts are well too small for including my favourite units to field is all, I could easily cobble together a boring list at a really small level, if that's what you want, and I have the chance to do it.

I've got enough to do 1000pts. Probably not more than that without going hero heavy though.

If you want to, I'd agree to a 1,000pt battle some time.

EDIT: Aren't all Warband armies hero heavy any way? I'm not trying to force you thogh, it matybe that you don't have enough Warriors for 12 to most of your heroes.

I have plenty of warriors, just short on heroes. I'm from the old school of "I'll take 1 hero and 70 troops"

e.g. I currently have 80 Woodelf Warriors and two heroes to lead them.

Exactly the kind of thing I hate.

Do you have enough heroes to play Warbands?

Yes and no. Yes, but it'd be an allied force (dwarves and elves) and no because I like to play a single list.

What's wrong with an Elven/Dwarf Alliance? Do you not like its theme or how it plays?

I care little for theme. I just don't enjoy using my dwarves as much as I used to, I'm building up a Rohan force at the moment. And if you wouldn't mind would it be possible to play a 1000pt game but using the Heroes of Middle-Earth doubles rulespack? As I need to test out my Good force. :)

What is the Heroes of Middle-earth doubles rulepack? was that on GW site?

I would not mind, as long as I could remember what it was.
