Hey folks, I'm wondering what you're thinking of this 750 pt army for a tournament coming up. Numbers sit at 28, with 8 bows plus Thranduil and Legolas. It might be a bit low for numbers. I am thinking possibly adding more spears into the balance and putting Legolas on a horse. Otherwise, I'm open for any comments. I do have to take a wizard in the list - so a Gandalf, Radagast, or Saruman is a must. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Rivendell
Warband 1 9/12 Glorfindel, Lord of the West with Horse; armour of Gondolin;
6 High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade;
3 High Elf Warrior with Elf Bow;

Mirkwood/Lorien
Warband 1 12/12
Thranduil, King of Mirkwood with Armour; Elf bow;
4 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow;
4 Wood Elf Warrior with Wood Elf spear;
1 Wood Elf Warrior with Elven cloak; Wood Elf spear; Banner;
3 Galadhrim Warrior with Elven blade;

Warband 2 3/12
Legolas
1 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow;
1 Wood Elf Warrior with Wood Elf spear;
1 Wood Elf Warrior

---- the White Council
Saruman the Wise

This is looking a pretty hero heavy to me. Combined with how fragile the wood elves with the low troop numbers I'd say you're in a rough spot with this list. Any reason why you picked this combination of guys to go together?

Largely because I own those heroes, hahaha. I revised it to more of a glass hammer of a skirmishing force, with Damrod added in because I don't have enough plastic elves and for a deployment drop. Now 32 models, 9 bows plus Damrod and Legolas.

Damrod, Ranger of Ithilien

Gildor Inglorion
5 Noldorin Exile with Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear;
2 Noldorin Exile with Throwing daggers;
4 Noldorin Exile with Elf Bow;
1 Noldorin Exile with Elven cloak; Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear; Banner;

Legolas with Armour; Horse;
4 Noldorin Exile with Elf bow;
6 Noldorin Exile with Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear;
2 Noldorin Exile with Throwing daggers;

Galadhrim Stormcaller
1 Noldorin Exile with Elf bow; 2 Noldorin Exile with Throwing daggers;

Saruman the Wise

I think that looks more viable. You still have to contend with the weakness of your army to shooting but the extra movement will help. You've given up your combat heroes but since you have Saruman, the storm caller and Gildor you should be able to compensate with magic.

Gildor is from Eregion/Rivendell list, so I suppose he can't lead a Lothlorien warband. Or am I wrong? It is strange that he has a rule for wood elves that come from another army list. Maybe there is a faq that I am not aware of.

Check the FAQs - he is able to take Wood Elves in his own warband. Otherwise he could only upgrade other units to Noldorins in other warbands in the same force.

Correct, but Legolas can't lead a group of Noldorin exiles because they are from the Rivendell/Eregion list.

No, Legolas is leading wood elf warriors that have the Norldorin Exiles upgrade. This upgrade may be purchased for any number of wood elf warriors so long as Gildor is in the same force. The upgraded troops are not limited to only Gildor's warband just as the Westfold Redsheilds are not limited solely to Erekenbrank's warband.

I've learnt a few things on this site, one of which is that Wan is (in my experience) right on the money about his rules. Gildor may take wood elves - not sure if links will show up but here it is: https://www.games-workshop.com/resource ... les_EN.pdf

Page 20 – Gildor Inglorion, Options

Change Gildor Inglorion’s Options entry to read as follows:
‘If your army includes Gildor Inglorion, then you may include
Wood Elf Warriors in his warband (see page 27). Furthermore,
you can upgrade any number of Wood Elf Warriors in your force
to Noldorin Exiles at a cost of +1 point per model. Noldorin Exiles
have Move 8".
