Hey there i have been out of LOTR since i was at college around 6 years ago and have recently got back into it. Have read the entirety of the ORB, and have just got the Free People's Sourcebook. I am hoping to build a Galadhrim force but anything out of the Lothlorien / Mirkwood section would be acceptable.

Before i sit down and run through the book this weekend could you guys suggest a solid 500pt. army as i am off out to buy my first set of new miniatures this weekend to start painting. Prefer the army to be true to the JRR Tolkein world but still remain a decent list to run with and not get my a$$ handed to me every week.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a decent 500pts Galadhrim list in the February White Dwarf.

Warband One:
Rumil (Leader)
Galadhrim Warrior with banner
Galadhrim Warrior with warhorn and Elf bow

Warband Two:
Galadhrim Captain with Elf bow
4 Galadhrim Warriors with Elven blades
4 Galadhrim Warriors with spear and shield
4 Galadhrim Warriors with Elf bow

Warband Three:
Galadhrim Stormcaller
4 Galadhrim Warriors with Elven blades
4 Galadhrim Warriors with spear and shield
4 Galadhrim Warriors with Elf bow

Totals: 495pts, 29 Models, 6 Might, 10 Shots

I don't think elves really need a warhorn, maybe take him out and take some more elves 8)

+1 for the lack of warhorn. I'd also recommend spreading out the warriors so you're not left with 2 - 3 models in a warband. with the new deployment rules you could leave your leader and banner stranded rather quickly.

Stick all the bows with the bow captain. Then split the others 50/50 between the stormcaller n rumil.

Agreed about the horn. At 500pts not so useful. At 800+ go for it.

PErsonally I would take shield not elven blades. You can't spear support when they go 2handed so I don;t really see the point in having more than 3 elven blades.

mm seen that list, but what if it's a scenario where that 1st warband just comes on by itself? they could die pretty easily if they (your opponent) has some good rolls . . .

play more defensive if they come on their own. wait for reinforcements... tbh you are elves you can shoot most stuff to putty and fight things to death.
