Post subject:  Quick Mumuk Question

Greetings all.

I have a quick question as our local store hasn’t had any copies of the new Fallen Realms book in to browse. I’m all set on points and options but just don’t know how the Mumuk fits into the warband concept. Is it considered an Independent or is it warband of its own…or does it “still only count as one” and has to go in another warband lead by a Hero?

Thanks in advance!

The Mumak hasn't changed, you get a captain included in the cost, and the Mumak is considered his "mount", so doesn't count towards the warband total. If you have more than 12 warriors in the howdah (not sure if you can, but for argument's sake), then you'll need another captain somewhere on the board.

Gotcha...so...

1. Mumuk and generic driver (minimum purchase) is the basic warband. The Mumuk itself does NOT count as part of the 12 models as it's a 'mount'.

2. Up to 12 warriors can be placed in the Howdah as part of that warband (been a while since I confirmed but I think 12 was the standard number of troops up there).

1. Yup.

2. It specifies you can only have a certain number of models in each position, making 12.

Just a thought, I'm wondering if you buy a Mahud Beastmaster, seeing as he is deployed on the front of the Mumak, the rules say a model already in the Howdah can take it's place at the top. model take the Cheiftain's usual place on top of the Mumak. Now although it states the Mumak can only be deployed with 12 men and a leader, what to stop you using grappling lines, therefore allowing an extra model to board the Mumak. This model would have to be deployed on the ground and would not be part of the Warband but it lets get an extra model up there to take up the space left by the Beastmaster.

I'm afraid not.

First, the Beastmaster "replaces, in all respects, the Mumuakil's Commander". So her rides up front but you take away the Commander. At no time can you have more than 13 models total on the Mumuk (Commander + 12 warriors).

Additionally, Repelling Lines are only for getting OFF the Mumuk. You can't remount with them. The only models that will ever be in the Howdah are the ones that deploy there (and it's a pretty specific list of what's allowed).

No prob. I haven't put my Mumuk on an SBG table in a couple years and last played it in WotR probably 18 months ago. :( I was "pretty sure" about both the Beastmaster and Repelling Lines in SBG but needed to look at my Harad book before posting to be sure. 8)
