Post subject: | Just Discovered a Galadhrim Force that had been hiding... |
Greetings! I've been casually lurking the past few months trying to find hints and tips about the Hobbit... I've finally broken down and ordered the rulebook so we'll see. Now comes a story about a grand mal seizure 4 years ago, parents buying their sullen twenty year old son models for him to paint between appointments and twilight hours of medication. A forgotten force that had been fully painted until it resurfaced recently in my folks' basement! To the bulk of the purpose of the thread! I need some help from our seasoned veterans on what to run and how to get caught up. I mean are those Force Army book things still relevant and what i use for point costs!? Here's a list of what I have if you could help with how i should break up the force into 500, 750 and 1k lists that would be much appreciated. A note on our group, we have lots of Isenguard (i'm talking 80%) and we're a fairly competitive bunch, nothing to cheesy we just like to win hehehe. And yes, i have all of the Army books so i'm not trying to cheat point costs etc. hahahaha Glorfindel Galadriel Celeborn Storm Caller Haldir armored with Bow 12x Galadhrim Knights (8 sword and board, 4 bows) 18x Galadhrim Archers 15x Galadhrim Spear and Shield 16x Swords 10x Spears 2x Eagles 2x Banners I also have the entire grey company (24 Rangers + 6 Rangers of the North) with all of the characters on foot and mounted (even gimili!) Thanks for your help! Joe |

Considering what you have, off the top of my head a 750-1000pt army would have Galadriel,Celeborn,Haldir,Legolas (all with full kit) and all your spear/shields and bows a banner ( or two) and fill the rest with either cav or a 50/50 split of glaives and spears. A 500pt list would be Haldir, legolas, stormcaller max spear/shields and bows or legolas and galadriel/celeborn plus those soldiers. |

Celeborn and Galadriel aren't that great. Legolas, Thranduil, and Rumil are the three best leaders of the wood elves IMO. That said, it's all about personal preference - use who you like the sound of! |

I was just going of off what he has. Now if he wants to buy things, well that opens up a whole world of possibilities |

I second this, Rumil is a much needed anti-monster hero and from what I can see, you'd struggle to kill higher point monsters such as the dreaded Dragon. More recently, I saw a wood elf player thrash a goblin player's 500pt Dragon cheeze army in the School league with his special rule. But go for what you want! It's always best to play with an army you enjoy playing. |
