Hey guys, I made army plans for two factions I'd like to collect in the future. Give me your thoughts. Here they are: Rangers of Ithilien: W1: 12/12+1 Faramir 4 Rangers of Ithilien w/ sword 4 Rangers of Ithilien w/ Spear 4 Rangers of Ithilien w/ Bow W2: 12/12+1 Damrod 4 Rangers of Ithilien w/ sword 4 Rangers of Ithilien w/ Spear 4 Rangers of Ithilien w/ Bow W3: 6/12+1 Beregond 2 Citadel Guard 2 Guard of the Fountain Court 2 Citadel Guard w/ Bow W4: 0/12+1 Boromir of Gondor 34 Minitures 500 Pts Durin's Folk: W1: 12/12+1 Murin 6 Dwarf Warriors w/ shield, armour & 2 handed weapon 1 Iron Guard 3 Khazad Guard 1 Vault Warden W2: 12/12+1 Drar 8 Dwarf Rangers w/ bow & 2 handed weapon 4 Khazad Guard W3: 0/12+1 Gimli, Son of Gloin 27 Miniatures, 505 Pts (My Friends allow 5 points give or take in our casual games) |

I could be mistaken and missed something in a FAQ but I'm pretty sure that Murin and Drar can't leave separate war bands?? |

You are correct. Murin and drar can only lead 1 warband. One effectively becomes a warrior so they can have another 11 warriors in their warband. Also, the gondor list is way over bow limit. Rangers always come with bows so you'll need to drop a warband of them to make the list legal (at least). Finally, please remove the pts values from your list. GW get funny about stuff like that. |

In regard to the dwarf list, I'd drop the vault warden as although def9 is pretty great with just one he's not gonna do a great deal, if you go with vault wardens then i think you need to go with 3 or 4. Drop the two handed weapons on the dwarf warriors, I don't have my rulebook to hand and can't remember exactly what the penalty is but I think they can't use their shield. You've now got 31 points to play with, you could by another two iron for some added punch, or you could buy one and use the rest of the points on Iron hill veteran upgrades.I'd also drop the two handed weapons on the rangers but that's just a personal dislike for them, I only ever use them in one on one fights and although I'm not sure what the norm is numbers wise at 500pts dwarves are quite likely to be outnumbered. Unless you're in love with Gimli then Balin is always a better choice getting the best of both worlds of Gimli's axes of the dwarves special rule. So you could be better of with something like: Murin and drar: 8 rangers with bow 4 khazad guard Balin with Durin's axe: 3 Iron guard 6 Iron hill veterans with shield 3 khazad guard Which leaves you with 3 points to play with for two handed weapons on the rangers if you like. You've got 9 might and 8 bows which isn't too bad (personally I wouldn't bother with bows as dwarves are good at sucking up bowfire, but I'm trying to keep it reminiscent of your original list ) 14 models with str4 and defense 7 though they could struggle without spear support. Murin and balin are both good fighty heroes and the 3 iron guard pack a punch. Just my thoughts hope it helps |

Your above list is still illegal Murin and drar can only lead 11 warriors. |

Thanks for the replies guys. Very helpful. Here's my new list for the dwarves. I decided not to get the Gondor army. Also with Ringil's suggestion Rangers can't take shields. It would be cool if they could though because Iron Hill Veterans w/ str 4 and def 6 would be beast. Anyway I've two lists. One is more for a defensive def 9 wall of dwarves and the other has lots of Khazad and Iron Guard. Here they are: Durin's Folk 500 1: W1: 12/12+1 Balin w/ Durin’s Axe 6 Dwarf Warriors w/ Shield 6 Khazad Guard W2: 12/12+1 Drar Murin 7 Iron Hill Veterans w/ bow 4 Iron Guard 26 Miniatures, 499 Points Durin’s Folk 500 2: W1: 12/12+1 Kings Champion 2 Heralds 8 Dwarf Warriors 1 Vault Warden W2: 12/12+1 Drar Murin 7 Iron Hill Veterans w/ bow 2 Vault Wardens 26 Miniatures, 498 Pts |

Sorry 'bout the illegal list slipped my mind The Iron hill veteran upgrade can be applied to both dwarf rangers and dwarf warriors. Therefore if your set on Murin and Drar your best of exploiting the ability to take def 7 str 4 troops. So with your second list if you drop the Iron hill veteran upgrades on the rangers and apply it to the 8 dwarf warriors and give them shields you'll have 500pts bang on. The kings champion is an absolute steal and you'll have a solid defense 9 center to your shield wall. Although this can comfortably forge on through the enemy I'd be concerned about stopping you opponent outflanking them. |

Yeah OK. Thanks. Just realised that IHV can given to Dwarf Warriors too. Didn't even see that in my book. |
