Hey, i've been playing with ideas for a Mordor/Morannon army list (avoiding things like mordor uruk hai, black guard, castellans etc) and I was wondering what you think. Not sure on the exact points but it's near enough 700, i'll play with the exact details later. The Undying, horse 5 Warg Riders Morannon Orc Captain, shield, 2h 6 Morannon orc, shield 6 Morannon orc, shield and spear Morannon Orc Captain, shield 6 Morannon orc, shield 6 Morannon orc, shield and spear Mordor Orc Shaman 5 mordor orcs, shield Orc drummer 5 mordor orcs, 2h I do feel i'm definitely lacking might at only 7 total, but it's a decent model count with a nice bit of magic and I think it'll be a nice all-rounder and good fun. Any input appreciated! VG |

The S4 and D6 throughout the army is definitely an advantage for the list, but you're right about a lack of might. That said, Mordor doesn't really have access to the same sort of heroes as Gondor or Rohan, except for the likes of Gothmog or Shagrat (who only really makes sense with a contingent of Mordor uruks). Of course, if you use your Wraith to target enemy heroes you could get them out of the way before they have the chance to use their might. A troll wouldn't go amiss here. |

Gorbag or Grishnak might be better than captains, as that solves your might problem. And yes. I'd drop the drummer to fill up warbands and/or get a troll |

I'm not sure about the warg riders since they have no combat leader. If they're meant as just an escort for the undying two would be enough. I'd drop the drummer for a regular captain to solve the might thing, and try to fill up the warbands with lots of morranons and orcs. Can't really go wrong with that combination. |

I'll drop the drummer, but I do like the warg riders as a threatening charge range of 10 inches will be useful to wrap around enemy lines. I would like to fit Gothmog in but I'm not sure if I fancy losing the undying as he seems like good fun. How can I make up for the might without losing the morannon theme? Thanks VG |

Don't use the Undying unless you have other spellcasters, I also do not recommend and all 2-handers Warband either, nor warbands with less than 9 Orcs in them. |

Honestly if I wanted to keep the theme, I would drop the drummer, the wargs, and one warband with the two handed. I would then put Shagrat in their and make his warband morannons. Hes a combat maniac. And so are they. With that army, you just charge them and cut them up. Right now, you look like youre trying to mix some magic with speed, and pure close combat but I think simplicity is best. |
