I've been trying to decide on a new evil army to start on, but couldn't find anything to my liking. After countless hours of pondering and searching I decided to start something Angmar-related. Angmar appeals to me because of the monsters and spirits, since I don't care much for regular orcs. I quickly decided I wanted to have Buhrdur in my force, since I like the model so much. I then thought about using the Half-trolls with Buhrdur, but since the haradrim are on the other side of middle-earth, I would need a sound reason for them to be there. So I'm going to tweak them a bit to become a northern tribe which fits way better IMO. Now to the questions at hand: What kind of army list would you guys suggest? I'd like Buhrdur, half-trolls and some pimped* haradrim, what else should I take? For a list ranging from 500-750 points? *How can I make them look more northern? I thought about fur-trimmed cloaks and a different paint scheme, anything else? cheers! |

I am guessing you want some sort of rhudar themed list if you want evil northern men? I would look about converting dundlendings or Rohan warriors into the rhudar people. Maybe convert Arathorn into some evil dunedain war chief from rhudar? I don't think personally the haradrim without serious converting and altercations could look 'Northern' enough. |

I agree with rigg1313. My suggestion would be to convert one haradrim hero as a leader for the half-trolls and then use Dunlendings to represent the men of Carn Dum. |

But then that one captain would look totally out of place... Any ideas to make the haradrim look more northern? Not Carn Dum per se, but perhaps just some roaming bandits who joined in with Buhrdurs band? |

Angmar have unfortunateley had their shade go OOP, which was a real stand out for their list, you could however model one yourself? |

Or find a similar model from another range Or look in ebay etc. I found a Shade for £5 on Amazon after they'd gone OOP. As to Angmar, in the books all manner of servants of the Witch-king in Angmar to be found, allowing you to include lots of the most interesting models in the range: all manner of Orc including Gundabads, Wargs, Trolls (inc. Buhrdur, Hobbit & Cave), Evil Men (Carn Dum, possibly Black Numenoreans, Spirits such as Barrow-Wights, Gulavhar (whilst made up by GW is creepy), also to Dwellers, then bats and spiders work too. And of course you have the Witch-kin himself. Your spoilt for choice. |

The thing is, I still have some haradrim gathering dust, so I would like to try using them anyhow. If it doesn't work, meh, but at least i did something with them. So do you guys know of any ways to make them look more in place in an angmar force as a tribe or bandits or some such? Ill start by adding some fur, expect pictures to follow. |

personally I just don't think they would make good proxies for northern barbarians (which Dunland would, though are largely OOP now), however they might do well as spectres which I have seen done before in a WOTR Harad army in a White Dwarf. When early rules for spectres came out in White Dwarf I did a similar paint job with a wildman of Dunland. |

Ok, this is what I've got so far. Paint job is just to give an idea of the colors I'll use. (basecoat+shade basically) Still torn over the last colour. Keep it black, change to another brown, use a muted red or greyish purple or something else? What do you guys think? |
