Ok all, I need a hand putting this army together. I understand that Wood Elves can be one of the most competitive forces and consistently place highly in tournaments. I'm looking to keep it Mirkwood themed. Warband 1: Elvenking's Guard - 222 Thranduil 6 Guards of the Elvenking's Court 6 Wood Elves with Elven blades and throwing daggers Warband 2: Greenleaf Scouts - 213pts Legolas with Elven cloak and armour 10 Wood Elves with Elf bow 2 Wood Elves with throwing daggers Warband 3: Enchanted River Patrol - 205pts Dailir, Captain of Mirkwood with Elf bow and Elven cloak 2 Wood Elf Sentinels 10 Wood Elves with Wood Elf spear Warband 4: Mirkwood Shaman - 60pts Egalmoth, Elf Stormcaller 40 models, 9 Might. 700 points exactly. |

you could had delved a bit on mirkwood stuff from the hobbit, for example getting some rangers to fill the spots for bows... I know they are expensive, but well worth it though... what are those elf king guards anyway? wood elves with guard upgrade? if so terribad waste, there just wood elves with 2+ shooting, you aint with range weapons at all... if its thranduil from hobbit you cant get wood elves on that warband... if they are guards of the galdhrim court its ok though... |

Your first warband is confusing, but I assume you mean that they are Guards of the Galadhrim Court. If you dropped all the throwing daggers you could add 2 more elves to the stormcallers warband and boost your numbers. I'm not sure if the Elven cloak is nessesary on the captain, again you can use the points to boost your numbers, which is the main advantage of wood elves. That being, lots if high fight troops and good archery. |

Why the Stormcaller when you have Thranduil anyway. You could swap him out to upgrade normal elves to elites (Sentinels, Rangers, Palace Guard etc). Or upgrade your captain to Rumil or Haldir, or take the cloak off the captain as well for another captain for more might. |

I would try this? Warband 1 Thranduil with armour and bow 2 Palace guard with shield 2 Palace guard with spear 150 Warband 2 Tauriel 8 mirkwood rangers 174 Warband 3 Legolas with armour 9 wood elves with spear 2 wood elf sentinels 217 Warband 4 mirkwood ranger captain 6 mirkwood rangers 159 models: 35 might: 11 700pts less 3 models and 2+ might, also its significantly possesing more bows your list holds 15 bows, this list got 20 |

@Galanur Your first warband comes out to 210pts not 150.... If that's the case, you are over by 60pts. Anyway, I would probably drop the sentinels in favour of more wood elves. @Lord Hurin I would also exchange the sentinels for more troops. Just my opinion, but I think with the amount of magic casters you already have, you won't need them as much. Also, swapping the captain for Rumil isn't a bad idea, he is a steal for his points and gets you an extra might. But that might hurt your theme so.... |

Except for the two WE with TD needing a spear, I like the OP list. Agree somewhat with WhoelsebutHaldir, you could drop the Sentinels and buy more troops, or buy TD for all your spears + more troops. Or you could go the other way drop the captain, replace him with the stormcaller, buy more TD and convert an extra warrior or two to Sentinels... ...but I think Sentinels are more useful with Galadriel around than with Thranduil. A channelled Aura of Dismay is pretty handy, the only extra you get with a Sentinel is moving the enemy models around, and at standard Courage it's not as effective as it could be. |

Wow, the new Mirkwood stuff is expensive points-wise it seems. I don't have that book, which is why I didn't add any of the new stuff. The $$$ price is also prohibitive and I'm not in love with the models or their portrayal in the films or rules. Mirkwood Guard would be 100 times better without their beard proxy cloths hanging in front of their faces. I also only took the Stormcaller because of the remaining points I had to work with. Rumil is apparently a beast, but he's Lorien not Mirkwood. Theme is paramount to me, which is why I'm iffy on the Stormcaller even. |

Mirkwood Rangers are good. Palace Guards... not as much. But yeah obviously they are very expensive when the cost of the normal warrior packs had risen to the price of the elite blisters per model... |
