Hey, just wondering what you guys think of my new list all and any critiques welcome. It started life as a Legolas and Gimli 4th age list but as you can see that has changed drastically

Warband 1
Thranduil
7 Galadhrim w/ Shield and Spear
1 Galadhrim w/ Spear
1 Galadhrim w/ Banner
1 Sentinel
2 GotGC

Warband 2
Rumil
6 Galadhrim w/ Bow, Shield and Spear
2 Galadhrim w/ Spear
1 Galadhrim w/ Banner
1 Sentinel
2 GotGC

Warband 3
Kings Champion
9 Khazad Guard
1 Dwarf Warrior w/ Banner

Points 750, Might 8, Models 39

Couple of bits of information about the list

1) The abundance of Banners - I know people aren't fans of having so many but I know I wanted one with my Dwarves and when I'd finish my elves I realised I had around 70 points left and no place left to put then so banners are filling that space

2) I'm focusing on a close combat army here which is why there are GotGC idea being they support the heroes giving then 4 attacks each

3) Plan to get the two elf warband close and cast Thranduil's Aura of Dismay to give as many people as I can Terror. Sentinels are there because there my favourite unit their spells are always helpful as they require no will and at a push they have 2A so so supported by a spear the're not to shabby in combat either. Dwarves are going to act like a sledge hammer with high strength and defence and attack. Hope is that higher fight, Nature's Wrath and re-rolls from all the banners will keep the army going

Well you have 5 banners. Way over- kill IMO. I'd drop the Dwarf one and one elf one to add another hero in. 3 banners would still cover you quite well. But that's just my opinion, obviously with 5 every combat in your army would be covered

Seriously consider dropping the dwarf banner (kings champ has 2 w/ him) and one, if not both, of the elven banners in lieu of an additional warband of wood elf archers (as many as will fit) led by a captain. You need some elven archery JIC.

I can see your argument but I wanted to try a less shooty army, I've being playing a lot recently with Mirkwood Rangers and Rivendell knight so wanted to limit my bows

Also How do I have 5 banners I thought I had 3, I don't have the rules for the Kings Champion on me but I don't remember him having a banner effect? and who is the other banner.

Edit: I'm an idiot got a friend to order my champion for me (are birthdays great) without seeing the model because everyone says the're great having looked at the model on the GW site the answers to all my questions are all really obvious

having done the maths removing the three banners frees up 67 points the cheapest hero in either list is 60 so I'm left with an issue, leave elf banners in or rejig the list significantly what would you suggest

Taking your original list, dropping the extra banners and adding a small warband of archers to target support.. After the first three warbands, you have 111pts to make additions

Thranduil
Sentinel
(2) GotGC
(7) Galadhrim w/ spear & shield
(1) Galadhrim w/ spear

Rumil
Sentinel
(2) GotGC
(6) Galadhrim w/ spear & shield
(2) Galadhrim w/ spear

King's Champion w/ heralds
(9) Khazad Guard

Haldir w/ bow
(4) wood elf w/ bow

I don't want to critique your list to much as your trying to help but you taken the banner and the model holding the banner out and move the archers across to there own warband meaning I have no more archers and only two more models. Would it be better to put the archer back in the other warband then take banner and Haldir if I can make the points work

Another suggestion maybe RoTN - cheap might and would leave me with less points leftover

What I don't get about the OP is giving shields to archers. Waste of points IMO

At the time it was was to use up the few remaining points I had left, the problem with elves is that you can have 70 something points left but it's still not enough to start a new warband, it the same issue I have with the current army list I have like 16 points left and 3 full warbands

First point soak is giving spears. Second is upgrade Galadhrim with shield and spear to GotGC. Speaking of which, if you're taking any you should take more, they should be together, and they should be with Rumil. Pikes can only support pikes, so if they're scattered around you lose their punch very quickly.

I was taking spears so it didn't matter if the combat breaks up the shield wall everyone can still support everyone else but there is a definite part of my brain that forgets I'm not playing wood elves so maybe I can free up some points there

As for the GotGC I know that rule I was planning on using them to support the heroes, Rumil with 4 attacks and parry is nasty (add in a Banner and it only get's better)

I understand that, it's just that 2 is the bare minimum and you have to hope your opponent doesn't disrupt it (draws off pikes by charging them or shooting them). Having a few more gives you more flexibility and retains the potency of your heroes for longer.

Ahh I see, ok I'll re-write the list and add a few more GotGC and drop some spears

Can't you use the spare points from the archer' shields on purchasing one more Khazad guard or a simple ranger to go with the ROTN. Seems a better investment.

As far as buying one more khazad goes I believe the heralds of the King's Champion count as two models so I already have a full warband

As for the ranager I'll see I'm re-writing the list now

Ok ideas taken into account what do we think
Warband 1
Thranduil
4 Galadhrim w/ Shield
3 Galadhrimw/ Spear and Bow
1 Galadhrim w/ Spear
1 Sentinel
3 GotGC

Warband 2
Rumil
4 Galadhrim w/ Shield
3 Galadhrim w/ Spear and Bow
1 Galadhrim w/ Spear
1 Sentinel
3 GotGC

Warband 3
Kings Champion
10 Khazad Guard

This leaves me with 77 points left do I go

Warband 4
RoTN w/Spear an Horse

Warband 5
RoTN w/Spear and Horse

and add 13 points worth of stuff to my guys or

Warband 4
Halbarad w/ Horse and give 2 points spare to someone else

or
Bombur
Alfrid
+ 12 points of equipment

If you take Alfrid/Bombur then you are PURE EVIL! But besides that I like the list. Personally I'd probably add in Haldir (not DOHD, the original profile) for the extra points. He's obviously boosting your bowfire a bit and with 3 might he just helps you a lot. More IMO than the ROTN save for the extra "drop"
