Imagine youre playing against an all hero army.

The scenario is say 750 pts, and you can play one of three scenarios.

One, you have to capture an objective in the middle and reconnoitre it off the board.
Two, you play to the death.
Three, you play high ground.

So, generally.....in the past Ive had a ton of success with cave trolls. Imagine now though, they are all tieing fights and not outright winning them. THOUGH, you also can get a handful more trolls.
Id have them led by Buhrdur also, if I took them. Not Moria.

Second, you have Isengard trolls. I never particularly liked these, and they also only have a fight 6.

Third, we have Mordor trolls. This is probably where Id go. They have the highest fight, and will beat almost all heros without might, or heroic strikes on a tie. Their defense is good enough for the enemy to still need sixes. And their strength wounds all man sized heros on 4's except for dwarves. But then you can just rend anyway.

Half trolls are another option, but there fight is lower and their heros arent the best.

And finally, what other large evil units can go with these? My initial idea is a cave drake. His point cost is decent for a model with his stat line. Yes, his fight is still only 6, but his other stats and special rules to deal with it are amazing.

Im not too fond of dragons.
Of course btw a troll chieftan would be a warband leader if I played with the Mordor trolls.

With the new brutal attacks for monsters just hurl and rend your opponents into submission

Depends on heroes, so that F7 mordor fatties can be dangerous for some heroes, F6 cave trolls for the F5 heroes and so on. But generally Mordor trolls may be the best choice cause most named are F6+. If you face extremely strong heroes then maybe half-troll spam is the option, but you still miss hurl...

The Dweller in the Dark is better than a Cave Troll, I would go with them over CTs any day. I would also use the new named trolls, especially Bill. They can't lead other trolls, but they're pretty powerful on their own.

Actually sir, I am considering a force with two of them, and some Mordor trolls.

I love the three trolls. The weakest has defense 6 though, so Ill probably not include him. I had that idea in mind though....

As for the dweller....hes too squishy. His defense has fallen time and time again in battles Ive heard him be a part of.

The weakest of the three trolls is still very good though, simply because of his snot rule. It's so good because you do it after heroic strikes, and because he's fv 6, if you use it you will always have higher fv than your opponent. After that you have so many options too, set on fire, stuff in bag, rend, hurl etc.

The key to the Dweller is to not let him get shot. Always use a screen in front of him. When he does get wounded, he can heal himself by killing people, which he does VERY well.

Yeah but in a battle against heros and monsters if he loses a fight hes done. And he has no might to counter heros.

the dweller needs to rend the targets to get his wounds back though (faw) so u can only get as many wounds back as u inflict not good when vsing normal 1 w troops
