Hi guys and gals. Long time lurker, first time poster. There's an upcoming 600pt tournament in April and I just wanted to get some of you veterans opinions of a list I really fancy the thought of taking . Here it is. Warband 1 Elendil with Horse and Shield 6x Numenorean Warriors with Shields 5x Numenorean Warriors with Shields and Spears 1xNumenorean Warrior with Shield, Spear, Banner Warband 2 Gil-Galad with Armoured Horse (Leader) 6x High Elf Warriors with Shields 6x High Elf Warriors with Shields, Spears, and King's Guard Upgrade It's 600pts exactly. I thought I would forgo shooting as I haven't found it has a huge impact for me and go for a more melee focused army. |

Where's Gil-Galad's shield? He really needs one. I think you'll really struggle with this list with so few guys and relatively low defence on the numenoreans. Elendil is not great for his points either, and you'd almost definitely do much better by putting the twins and high elves in instead of Elendil, but then you'd have a load of points left over at the end. Hmm… |

Welcome to the One Ring! I agree it could be tough. You don't have much killing punch and you have low numbers. Elendil is good in that he'll give you the free heroics, so he and Gil-galad will score some kills but I don't rate Numenorians highly at all |

Well, I wouldn't *normally* suggest it, but since you already have Gil-Galad so you have a tough hero, you can swap Elendil for Isildur and include Alfrid leading a warband of 8 Lake Town spearmen. |

Do you know what the scenarios will be? It certainly will be a tricky force to play - relying entirely on two heroes (neither of which have much Fate or Resistance to Magic), although both among the mightiest in the game. While Elendil may be very expensive, there is not much you can do unless changing the entire force: exchanging him for Isildur and dropping the banner will only get you enough points for another minor hero and perhaps a few troops; the only way to really increase your numbers is by radically changing the entire Númenor contingent to two Captains and a pile of Warriors (one or both Captains possibly mounted). That could get you some 35-40 guys, but at what cost... One thing I'd certainly do: if Gil-galad is your leader (as he well should be), swap the shield from Elendil to him. Both have to be in the thick of it, slaughtering enemies left and right to reduce the opponents' numerical advantage as quickly as possible, but with the number of scenarios that give VPs for wounding the leader, it should be as difficult as possible to score a wound on the Elven King. |
