I've been thinking about a fluffy Grey Company + Rivendell list recently. Lets say twins leading high elf warriors with shields, supported by a couple of warbands with a ranger of the north and some rangers of arnor. For larger size games perhaps ally in Gandalf the grey. Game plan: elves tank and rangers provide bow and spear support. Can it work, or is it doomed to fail? |

I used to run a dwarf and ranger combo back in Legions to great effect. But I am not sure that this here would pan out so well. Aside from the twins you don't have anything for taking out armored units and the rangers themselves would struggle against other elves in a shootout. The twins might carry the day for you against men. Still, it really depends on how you mean to use the rangers as to whether or not you could win with this. |

Ourz, the army you described cannot be played. Rangers of the North are indipendent heroes and cannot lead troops unless you're following the Throne of Skull rules but that would require a full grey company army. |

Damn, I seem to have misread the Grey Company rules. I first understood it as each ranger of the north may lead a warband of up to four rangers of arnor, but I see now that that is not the case. Thanks for your replies! |
