You probably know this Yarry miniature. Its a very popular hobbit from Enigma miniatures that has seen many, many, many conversions, from Daredevil and Elektra to Napoleon. If you look on CMON you'll find a real bunch of them, but most of them can be seen in this site. Looking to the pose, it reminded me a very famous statue of the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, that is placed just outside GuimarĂ£es castle. It didnt seem to be an impossible project so, of course, I had to do it! First, I had to cut some 'extra' parts. I tried to save the most I could to use later or to save the bits. He'll be wearing a helmet and chainmail so, hair had to come out. Same with the arms, a pouch and some fancy details in the sword. Tough job... The, even tougher, I had to sculpt all the parts that were not there. I've used a mix of GS with Milliput so that I could sand those parts. The sword is from a brave soldier of Minas Tirith, who is now known as Beren. Then it was just a matter of painting him. I seem to have lost the wip pictures (I started this mini some months ago) so lets jump to the final stage. Still needs the Dullcoat, but other than that maybe just a couple of touches here and there. Hope you like it! I call it D. Afonso Yarriques! I had a great fun doing this one, really. I recommend it to everyone who likes a nice conversion. I mean, there are so many Yarry out there already made that just show what can be done with a bit of imagination... I already bought another one... |

Well you know how I feel about Yarri but at least I got to see you chop his head off. You ready for another one? I remember the list of possibilities we went through. I like you theme for this one and it has turned out nicely! |

Give him a poncho over one shoulder and a six-shooter in his hand - he'll make a beautiful Clint Yarrywood. his is a fantastic conversion mac and beautifully painted. I like the leaves on the base too, very impressive. |

You know what Mac I have seen dozens of images of this mini on the net and some of them with paintjobs to make your heart bleed but I am going to be totally honest here I think this is the best version of Yarry I have seen. Excellent conversion and a mighty fine bit of painting too. |

Thanks guys! I'll probably try to work a bit more on the shield afterall, but thats after some other stuff I have in the desk now. The leaves are photoetched brass by the way. The look great, but are a bit expensive and are a bit fragile too (very thin so they bend quite easilly). If you plan to use the miniatures to game make sure you are carefull in the way you place them on the base. These are from Andrea Miniatures (it comes in a sheet with a load of them) but I'm sure you can also find the same sort of stuff in other brands. I'll post a picture later if I remember. |
