It's still a work in progress but here is what i have got so far. I hope to improve it by adding a layer of clay all around it. With more dettails and decoration. Then i will spray can the whole thing. Just hoping the clay might not chip off or break.. I ll do a test with the clay tomorrow. |

Good start so far. You may have thought about this already, but I will mention it anyway. I donot know how much clay you will be adding and what type of clay. In general, clay will add weight and will shrink a little when dried. It may even crack when dried if too thin. Check out modeling paste. I look forward to seeing your progress whichever you decide to use. Have fun being creative Garmenhord. |

added a first layer of clay over a part of the helmet, since it's getting colder and stuff - the clay hasn't dryd out completly and still feels a bit wet. It's looking good so far - no cracks yet and it's not crumbling off. I will continue as soon as the first layer is dryd out more. I want it to be solid first, it stil leaves marks if u touch it. Should be dryd up tomorrow for sure.Still got 2kg of clay left so i guess i should have enough to do the whole thing. Using do and dry from Creall - quite cheap 4 euro for 1 Kg. I don't mind adding weight - caus that will make it feel like a real helmet. Wondering if i could add something on top of the clay when it's done like varnish or something to make it even sturdier to prevent cracks.. |

Good for you. Are you going to paint it kind of rusty/dirty in the true goblin style? *** Note to all One-Ringers - sometimes I work from a laptop and my spelling ability goes a bit AWOL due to inadvertant contact with the touchpad. And being distracted by a 14 week old pup who is currently snoring like Godzillas big brother. *** |

covered in clay - it already took a little tumble of my desk - few cracks in it but it's still quite ok - i ll enstrenghten those parts with more clay. |

Looks like you are having fun on holidays. Tip for more Orcish look. Strip off and wear a loin cloth or something to make it not pornographic in any way. Lol best thing i have seen on this forum. So funny! |

Moved along quite nicely with adding clay on the helmet. It's almost fully covered. The fase after that will be adding detaills. I must say it's quite sturdy. Sometimes there are some cracks in the clay - but smearing a thing layer of clay in the crack is enough to fix it. I think it will be quite fine. I am going to try to finish it up in 2 weeks for the comic-con. Don't know if i get there in that time. |

Cracks do appear apperently so i think i am finish this guy up. But i do was thinking of using a coat of glue all over the mask.. does anyone know if that might help to make it a bit more crack-resistant? More details appeared - now i only got the do the wing thingie on the other side It's a bit simpler then my first design I wonder if it will look better painted.. This is the axe i did - but that one was covered in tape. |

Started painting: the silver paint is making it very hard for the black paint to attach. Of course the flash makes it look lighter. |
