Hey guys :)

So recently I was inspired to collect some WWII due to seeing some of the great minis around here and also my own huge interest in WWII and that period of history. So I took a look at Warlord and, after some deliberation, got myself a squad of U.S Airborne and their HQ. I hope to get myself the rulebook in the near future and get some gaming going but for now I'll just be painting up these first few minis. I'll be logging my progress in this thread.

So without further ado, here are my first few BA minis: some of the 82nd Airborne Division. Just the Medic, MMG and ammo carrier so far. Hope you like and any tips for this range and advice for the painting of them you may have would be much appreciated! :)

A couple of close-ups of the Medic. I decided to make him look a bit older/been in the field longer, hence the stubble :)

Well it has been a while since I posted any updates on either LotR or BA but I managed to get this officer done in the last couple of days. A really nice mini which I loved painting and slowly my US Airborne are getting a lick of paint on them. I acquired a bunch of stuff in the 1/2 price sale at Warlord so that stuff will be next on my list for Bolt Action - hopefully get round to them all in the Summer months.

Hope you like. C & C very welcome! :)

Looks great. One aspect I love about the Bolt Action line is the ease of making very unique models that just look awesome

Thanks for all the kind comments, even months after I posted the pics :) Unfortunately I haven't been doing much in the way of painting lately and my extensive collection of US Airborne has fallen down the painting pecking-order in favour of more LotR. Maybe I'll get back round to this stuff in the next few months or so...

Thanks again! :)

Well it has been a while but now I have finally got another few of these US Airborne painted up. This now takes me to half of the squad and officers completed! :D I'm now painting the emblems on the minis shoulders rather than using transfers - oddly I just think it looks more authentic and blends better with the model overall. All of the minis now have painted emblems/flags - I redid the older ones.

I decided to take some "themed" pics this time, as if the squad is advancing through some part of France in 1944...

Hope you like. Hopefully I'll get more updates on this and my LotR WIP up soon :)

Very nicely painted!
I am assembling some Rubicon tanks at the moment - compatible with Bolt Action as they are 28mm (1:56) but they have more detail. I love the Warlord plastic troops.

Thanks guys! :)

LordoftheBrownRing - I look forward to seeing them! :)

Dorthonion - yeah, the variety in poses with the plastics and the huge customisation option with them is something pretty cool! I managed to pick up a load of Warlord plastics in their Sprue sale last year so they're still waiting around to be painted.

I have to say though, I absolutely love these metal troops! I almost always prefer metal over plastic though. Something about it just feels safer and sturdier. Generally they paint up more nicely as well but I guess I haven't actually painted any Warlord plastics yet... :)

I have yet to acquire any armour for my BA collection. I do have some light artillery though for these US Airborne.

is it just American's you are collecting Bandobra? The new Russian releases look pretty good. I am limiting my self to British and Germans.

No. I have the complete set of these Airborne troops (pathfinders, artillery, mortars etc.) and then a few regular US troops in plastic. Then I also have some Late-War British, Late-War German and regular Soviet infantry, all in plastic.

Really I had just wanted to get a complete US Airborne collection but ended up getting a wider variety of stuff as a result of the sale I mentioned above. Once I finish up getting the last few things I want from LotR, I can see this range becoming my main interest...
