Hey all Ive been thinking about playing The Hobbit SBG for a while now and in the next week or so I will be taking the plunge!

Im looking at starting with some Mirkwood Rangers and Tauriel, is that a good place to start?

I am looking for players in the Loughborough, Coalville, Leicester area to game with So if you are in that area just send me a message.

Hi, and welcome to the forums. Some Mirkwood Rangers are a great kick off, in my opinion. A nice green scheme.

Anyway, if you're looking at playing too but don't want to buy the Escape from Goblin Town set, look for the mini hobbit rulebook on eBay. You can probably also pick up any other gaming essentials from there cheap (tape measure and dice). Right, I'm blabbing on. You don't need to buy them straight away.

Check out a GW store for beginner games and painting. I don't know which days they are, but they're good to go to. You can learn the game, painting techniques and meet players.

Anyway again, hopefully this is of some help. I hope you enjoy the forum (:

Thanks for the reply :)

Yeah I thinking a green scheme would be good, how would it work with them all having bows and the rules for having a warband.

I was thinking about getting the EFGT set any way, painting I should be fine with as I have been gaming for more than a few years now but just not GW games.

If you mean the 33% bow limit, then the mirkwood rangers ignore this rule and they can have as many bows as they want in the warband. I think they have to be lead by one of the named heroes though, (legolas, tauriel, thranduil),hope someone can clarify this.

Mirkwood rangers have 100% bow limit when led by Thranduil, Legolas, Tauriel and Ranger captains. If you take palace guard captains then you have to obey the 33% limit for that warband.
