Since Eärnur was doing an attack with cavalry.
Im thinking that I maybe should use Knights of
Minas Tirith and then a Mounted Isildur as Eärnur...
Do we know if the Warriors of Númenor or Minas
Tirith are most correct for the time of Battle of
Fornost (Judging by the looks).

I think the issue was WD300.

GW uses WoMT in most, if not all, of their versions of the Battle of Fornost, but I think there may be one version in which Anor Warriors were supported by Numenoreans, but that might just be Gladden Fields and the battle that pre-dated it.

Could you post it here, Gothmog? I'm not sure it would be a problem, as the rules are certainly neither official nor are they available anymore (unless you happen upon a 7-year old back issue.) I'm interested to see what WD had in mind for him. I have issue 305, in which they printed rules for Anarion, Isildur's brother. His profile was that of Faramir with heavy armour and a shield and 1 less Will and Fate. He had a special rule that boosted his Courage by 2 when charging a Terror-causing enemy, all for an extremely overpriced 100pts.

Ok, here it is:

65pts Earnur Captain of the white tower F5/- S4 D6 A2 W2 C6 Mt3/W2/F1

Can have a horse at additional cost of 10 points
Fools rush in - Whenever Earnur moves IF he is able to charge an enemy hero he MUST do.

That's pretty horrid. Earnur was "more like a champion than a Captain or King" sort of like Boromir was. A mightier profile is what I had in mind for him, very much like Isildur's. Low Will and middling Fate, but good Attacks and Might.

Aye, he does have a weak profile, hence I suggested a generic King if Men as an alternative. From what I know of Earnur, he didn't sound uber-powerful, but I think he should've been better than GW did him. At the time though, he wasn't as weak as this was before most of the uber-profiles.

I would say that Anarion should have Isildur's profile (he was his brother after all) except trading a point of fate for a point of will (he did die, yet wasn't seduced). Earnur should definitely be an uber-hero, with the Fools Rush in rule.

Yeah... the old Earnur was a very... poor profile. To be nice.

@Gothmog- no he wasn't as weak, comparatively speaking, but he still wouldn't want to meet up with even an uruk-hai captain who had a nazgul watching over him. Though that was quite some time ago, wasn't it? :) Ah, how the years do roll onward...

@Valamir, that was some time ago, things do change. He should arguably lose to Nazgul due his 'circumstances' though, but only through magic, like a boromir type thing, though long long ago he wasn't too bad, though, in them, days several hundred goblins was a legal 1000pt army.

@Gothmog- How right you are, on all points. Well spoken! :) And yes, friends and I did consider the merits of bringing one goblin captain and hiding him at the back of 193 of his fellows as a 1000 point army.

But, to get back to the topic on hand, a profile closer to Isildur would do much better, methinks.

Isildur defeated Sauron. Eärnur fell (probably) when fighting
the Witch king who most likely cheated! ;) But he still deserve
better stats.

Agreed. Though, quite frankly, the Witch-king with the Crown of Morgul is more than a match for most good heroes- providing that Boromir is beating on the crown in the first turn.

Though the fact that none of Earnur's guards made it back to Gondor points at some kind of treachery, though, who knows, the Witch-king might have taken him on. And then called for backup if he started losing.

Earnur didn't take any guards.

No? I don't recall Tolkien stating one way or the other.

In my opinion, the Witch-king cheated, why would he fight fair when he could fight dirty. He has no morals or regard for code of honour.

Earnur was mentioned as riding out alone.

I think Draugluin is correct, did the Witch-king not ask him to go in alone
