Playing over the holidays has made me realise how rusty I am, and can't remember or find the answe to the following point in the rule book.

elf 1 charges orc 2 and elf1 gets spear support from elf 3. Orc 4 counter charges can he charge elf 1, adding to that combat ? I think yes , but my son thinks no based on a remembered game with gw manager.
Alos can orc 4 charge elf 3 by moving through elf 1's (but not exiting ) control zone. Or is elf 1 control zone inactive having charged orc 2 .

Yes to all charges. You can have multiple models basing a single enemy model (who can in turn be supported by a friend as in your example).

As you said, once charged the elf has no control zone to prohibit movement
