So the bow limit thing makes sense to me but is this legal: Arathorn: 8 rangers of arbor 4 warriors of arbor 1 ranger of the north Or is this: Arsthorn 8 rangers of arbor 4 warriors 2 r of north Because I'm confused if the initial 33% is free plus 4 more for each ranger |

Both are I think, but don't quote me on this. The first one, you have 12 warriors, so you get 4 free bows. Then you have one rotn, so you get four more. The second one is also legal. |

Only the second one is legal, how it was explained to me is either you do arnor which follows the regular rules for bows, or you do grey company which has the stipulation |

I think it is just like rohan. Those rangers of the north make the rangers of arnor not count to the bowlimit, but also not to the total. They are totally exluded in the counting. So in that manner your first army is illegal. Explanation: 1 ranger of the north, so 4 arnor rangers are excluded. that gives you 4 warriors and 4 rangers in your warband towards bow limit. So this is illegal. 5 warriors and 7 rangers +1 ranger of the north would be legal as you then have 5 warriors and 3 rangers towards your bow limit. |

The grey company 'army' box, before the Arnor Army List makes it very clear. You EITHER pick the conventional 33% bows OR (cant do both) select the Grey Company way. Which means under "Grey Company", it is 1 Ranger of the North (RoN) per 4 bows. So if you want 4 bows you need 1 RoN, if you want 8 bows you need 2 RoN, if you want 12 bows you need 3 RoN, if you want 48 bows you need 12 RoN. It DOES NOT exclude 4 bows by including a RoN (Not the Rohan, mirkwood Ranger etc method). FWIW, neither the "Ruin of Arnor" source book nor the "Kingdoms of Men" army book (which I would consider the definitive source for stats and special rules for men) list any special rules for the Rangers of the North heroes in the Arnor army list. Given that, I'm not sure the special rules from the "Grey Company" list even apply (unless there's something in the FAQ that addresses the issue?) . |
