Hope someone will be able to clarify this as can't seem to find anything in the Hobbit rulebook. Can warriors in a warband be armed with different weapons For example: 10 Orcs in a warband - 4 have bows, 6 have spears. Is this legal? Cheers in advance, Tim |

Yep! Totally legal! I've seen some good lists with one row of shields and the second row with spears per example. So you could even use a complete, let's say, Warriors of Minas Tirith (nowadays 12 miniatures) box and add a hero to use it as a functional warband. |

Yes, in fact, it is a common tactic to line your front rank with shields and handweapons while your second rank is made up of spearmen. This is particularly useful if you can manage your second rank be made up of a unit with a higher fight value than the front rank. Beware of your bow limit, however, With few exceptions, your army can only be made up of 33% bows. |

This is totally legal but two things are important 1. The 33% bow limit of warband members 2. I know that it was only an example but if you were tempted to use orc warriors with bows I wouldn't recommend it as the low shooting skill and strength are just a waste of the evil bow limit. (I would recommend Haradrim with their poisoned arrows or maybe Easterlings which use heavy armour for increased survivability and utilise 50% bow limit) |
