Post subject: | Question on Bow Limit |
Hello!! Today I played with a friend of mine, he played a warband of ithilen rangers and me one of Uruk scouts. I can't find in the sourcebooks where the bow limits are and since we thought the rangers have 100% bow limit he played 12 with bow, which destroyed me. Can anyone summarize what the deal with bow limits is because wherever I look I just can't find it. Are there whole factions with different bow limits or does it depend on the specific model? |

here is the link to the Black Library FAQ's... http://www.blacklibrary.com/faqs-and-errata.html Scroll down to Hobbit. Rumor is that V1.2 is on the way. Rangers of Middle Earth are 1/3 bow limit. |

The Bow Limit is described on page 102 of the big rules book. Most Armies ( Factions ect ) have a 1/3 Bow Limit meaning a force of 30 models can have 10 with bows. Heros are not included in Bow Limit. If your Army contains more than one Faction then the Bow Limit is done individually for each ally. So a Isengard and Mordor Army made up of 30 Mordor models and 30 Isengard models can have 10 Mordor and 10 Isengard models with bows. Some Factions however do not have a normal bow limit. In your case the Rangers of Ithilien are part of the Minas Tirith Army list which has the normal 1/3 Bow Limit. So your friends list was not legal however now you know for next time. Factions I know of with different Bow Limits are Warriors and Riders of Rohan ( those models don't count towards a bow limit but everything else does ), Grey Company ( Complicated! See Sourcebook for details ) Harad and Umbar have a 1/2 Bow Limit and so does the Eastern Kingdoms and Thranduils Hall has a 100% Bow Limit. Hope this helps! |

Page 5 & 6 of any of the 5 army books. Wargear and Bow Limit on pg. 5 and allies and Bow Limit on page 6. This is also listed in the book with EFGT set on page 100 and page 102 for other places to find the bow rules. Since the special bow limits are not so well placed, here is help; For Harad 50% is on page 26 of the fallen Realms book. Easterlings are in the Fallen Realms FAQ/Errata pdf file. Grey Company is on pg. 36 of the Kingdoms of men book for bow limits. Rohan's bow limit is only mentioned in the FAQ for the Kingdoms of men. Azogs Hunters bow limit is in the FAQ for the Hobbit rules manual Elronds Household bow limits are mentioned in the FAQ for the hobbit rules manual. |
