I can't tell if this profile is good or not. Given the fact that one would have to rely on the ARmy of thror troops anyway, Dain becames just a very expensive alternative to something one could have access at a cheaper cost. On the spot I think at BOTFA Dwalin (more killing power, with his S5 and axe for piercing strikes), AUJ Balin (to lead the same troops that Dain would plus his special rule) and a Bannerbearer.

The troops upgrade is nearly worthless, unless you know for sure you are fighting orcs and goblin (scenario-bound).Plus, the name should be changed because "Iron hills veteran" is already taken by Murin & Drar.

One thing I may have not understand. Does the banner rule only works if the troops are upgraded or for everyone in the Army of the Iron Hills?

True Dain its expensive and not as a killing machine for a cheaper cost like Dwalin. But then you´re paying the most cause of the other rules he has, specially the banner effect.

Indirectly without noticing yea the banner effect only Iron Hill stuff, that is why the upgrade would be very usefull. I could had redone the rext and add point upgrade to those dwarves and additional text a they count a being under the effect of a banner if they are within 6" of Dain.
But then overall it would be cheaper just to give the rule to Dain.

So overall you have to upgrade the dwarves in order for them to become moe usefull. Point by point they become substancially better.

Just altered the wording on the upgrade to Iron Hill dwarves and Iron hills grimhammer dwarves

Fact is, we are talking about a hero very close to 200 pts, which is a massive investment for an army. Is the the kind of unit which I would field only in a thematic scenario. The Iron hills bonus does not even work against uruks, making it quite situational. I'd rather pay one extra point to give Iron Hill warriors a Dol Amroth-like banner effect and drop his banner rules, lowering his price and thus making Dain more likeable.
To make good use of him as it is one would have to spend 300 points for a single simple warband.

I can't seem to pull the profiles up through the links. It just keeps sending me to a sign in screen, which other links haven't done before.

Why? I never needed an account to view stuff from dropbox before? Did they change something or did you stick it behind a wall for some reason.

I like the Goat Riders profile. It's expensive, but it has to be since you basically got a heavy armored Cavalry model with S4, lance and D7.

I like the chariot too, but there are a couple of points which aren't clear to me
-how many dwarves? According to the movie there should be 4: driver, shooter, two on the flanks (Balin,Dwalin, Fili and Kili)
-how many dice in fights? One for dwarf, minus the driver (3 plus one when charging)?
-does the bolt thrower count as siege weapon?

i tried with 3 as its wat i see in the regular before dain charge the elves. For fight purposes only 2 can fight. So 4a on charge vs foot and cav. the bolt thrower ite just a mounted crossbow D6 S6 shoots.

I like the chariot for the most part up I think it should have chariot should have its own attacks, like radagasts sledge. Instead of relying on the dwarves in the chariot to do the fighting.

I also think it would be interesting to give the chariot a starting move of ten, strength of six and a defense of five. Then have taken wounds reduce its total move distance and strength, by one per would. That way it makes it seems like you are killing off the goats rather then hacking the cart itself. I think it would e interesting but perhaps it would be a bit to convoluted in practice.

That is an interesting concept although defence 5 is no go, regular khand chariots got D7 base and are just wood, these are heavily built in...

The defense of the kand chariot is kind of why I thought making the wounds based on the goats defense would make more sense. Because we never actually see a cart get destroyed but we seen the goats and crew get had pretty easily when they get attacked. Moreover I would contend that the practical use of the chariots should be as hard hitting, fast moving shooting platforms that are not mean to be stuck in the think of battle. Plus with how they look they would almost need defense 10 and battering points instead of wounds to keep them in line with the khand chariot. But hey that's just my take on it.
