The rules are ok. I would use them simply cause i like the models. Something about someone who staples wounds together with strips of metal that screams badass.

Yeah... That's about the only coool thing about them. The models look awesome, and are good for conversions.

great looking model but a bit untolkien and doesn't really fit into my uruk army, i may consider using it in large 1000 point battles

Why a bit unTolkien? There would have been Ferals, because Saruman would have taken a little while to work out the correct mix of Orcs and men. And they are a great way of getting Berserker-like power into a scout army.

i don't like your feral uruk-hai!

but i like the idea models are pffft, they are okay but i wouldn't buy them. I nearly got them but got a Uruk-Hai scout bowman Blister insteed making my force much more agressive and it moves quick and can cover it self in any situation :D

no ferals needed, since my chocie i have had a 95% success rate ( if those elves didn't have big shields and pointy arrows my brood woulda ripped em a new one )

good luck to any feral uruk-hai owners 8)

Like telcontar said, even though they werent in the books doesnt mean they didnt exist. Im sure they had a gay axe murderer in Minas Tirith at some point, just dont Tolkien thought it was such a good idea to write him in.

They might have had an axe-murderer in Minas Tirith, I'm just not sure he was gay... :o

You never know, alot of acient civilizations had numerous homosexuals. The greeks and roman did and most of the french court during the 1700's was.

But thats getting off topic.

I'm a big Isengard fan, only a couple of days ago bought a box of new scouts( and defenders of rohan, totally besides the point) and im sick of feral uruks and isen trolls there really annoying and i think there both a botched attempt at trying to fazzaz isengard up. They both get a thumbs down from me...
They might have good stats but i would never buy them.

well homo's in 1700's are fine but LotR could use better models and more range and so far that is happening.
But these models are not helping and as Lt.Orthanc said the Ferals and Troll are "both a botched attempt at trying to fazzaz isengard up"
a new topic? if so i wanna rant about the Scouts now that is a well needed trooper to the army and the box set i got containing 24 of them is just what i needed to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Now painting them is fun, battling with them is fun, putting them on a base is fun!
anyone got something to add that i missed??!!??
the scouts rock :D

uruk this, uruk that...

Anyway......

I regard uruk scouts as good point fillers, because they still keep the strength and fight value of uruk hai, however their low defence is a problem.....

They do fill a nice hole in the Isengard Army though, as Missile troops that can still keep up with the rest.
Ok any missile troops are never going to win you a game (unless your are Elven) but I always found Crossbows a little limiting as they would often get left behind in a charge.
Plus as pointed they do very well as point fillers, better than using plain Orcs as it keeps the army more themed. Their lack of defense can be over-comed however by using Full armoured Uruks with shields, then scouts followed by Pike armed Uruks, As you close up the Shield beaers can take the brunt of the missilefire coming your way, then recieve the charge (if you have timed it a little wrong, as ideally YOU want to be the ones charging) Pikes can support any fights and the lighter scouts can be used to wrap around to try and trap the enemy, or breaking through to get at War machines/Archers.
I have converted a few of my non-shield scouts to carry bows, giving my 12 from the box, this allows me the option of using Volley fire as well which is rarely seen in a Isengard army. I always try to take a few more than the 10 needed as losing 1 early on is a pain.
Add in either Lurtz or Ugluk and you have a nice rounded and themed force.

Puff... wheeze... blimey probably the longest post I have ever made :?

I prefer Ugluk to lurtz. But lurtz is good because hes ranged and good at close quarters. If you want a more unspeciallised captain that packs a punch Vrashka is good for range with his crossbow( but it is a bit dumb for a scout) and ugluks better in close quarters and i'm assuming they have different stats. i haven't seen Vrashka's stats, but i have seen ugluks and his stats are a lil bit less then lurtz's as well as points.
