i had an idea for rangers and elves to be able to move in forsts without bieng seen. at the begging of the game the good player can put his rangers and wood elves into a forst with just there bases and can move out from cover whenever he wants. the opposing player sees the rangers or elves if a evil player gets shot or that figure moves from hiding. there are some promblems but i need feedback. |

I've done this for a few scenarios, but only with hiding, not moving unseen. For the latter, use the rules for elven cloaks. For hiding, give the ranger player a bunch of numbered tokens or bases. He can place them around the board as he likes, though they shouldn't be closer than 3"/8cm from each other and they should be behind something at least the size of a bush. Each base represents from 0-2 rangers, so the player needs to keep a list of where his rangers are. The opposing player knows that rangers may be hiding in those spots, but doesn't know how many, if any. If a ranger doesn't move he can't be seen until an enemy model is within 3"/8cm. If he does move, he can be seen for the rest of the game (though your elven cloak rules may come into play above). A hidden ranger can fire an ambush shot on his move: he must use 1/2 move to get up, with the other half he can fire at -1 to hit. If he is not charged he can fire again in the shoot phase. After this, since he can't hide again, he can't ambush again. Balancing this can be tricky depending on the size and goals of the scenario. You'll want to give the ranger player enough tokens to confound the enemy. You may want to give the enemy player a point boost of 10-50% depending on the circumstances. Hope that helps. |

what is the advantage from a ambush shot against a normal shot? |

It's just one extra shot because you can still shoot in the shoot phase. I didn't want to make it overpowered. |

there is actually something very similar to this in the battle companies rules: Quote: Concealing Cloak
2 Influence points Rangers and ambushers of all types have made use of camouflage items for thousands of years. Any model that has a concealing cloak may start the game in hiding so long as it is placed within an area of cover, such as a rocky outcrop or some woodland. As long as the model remains stationary, it counts as concealed and receives the benefits of wearing an Elven cloak. As soon as the model moves or shoots, it is revealed and the effects of the cloak are lost for the remainder of the game. |
