Post subject: | King's Champion in SBG |
So for those of us who have spent the time converting wicked looking models for use as a King's Champion in WOTR but don't get to use them in SBG, I propose that we make some rules fitting for our neat conversions for use in our wonderful skirmish games. Mine is mounted on a 40mm base so I was looking for rules that would be good enough to warrant a 40mm base but that doesn't ruin the SBG games I use him in (i.e. not too UBer powerful). I was thinking would a King's Champion have better stats than all the normal Dwarf Warriors? What I mean is something along the lines of Fight 5, Strength 5, Defense 7 (I know this isnt better than Other Warriors Defense). I was thinking 3 attacks but I'm not sure. For special rules I was thinking of him counting as a Banner. Also do you think they should be a Hero or just an elite warrior? And would anyone care to suggest a statline, along with wargear and special rules that they would use and that would warrant a 40mm base? |

I'd think something Troll-like in stats, not sure though, what does a Kings Champion even look like? |

I was under the impression that until GW released official models, you couldn't field those models. Things like King's Champion, Easterling Dragon Guards, etc are off-limits until the models are released. |

I was thinking House Rules, obviously I couldn't use it elsewhere. |

The King's Champion has already been released the profile can be found here I'm not a fan of any man-sized model being mounted on a 40mm base. Just exactly does a single man-sized model warrant that large a zone of control? |

That would be the Shieldbearer. He's a unit upgrade in WoTR, I thought. |

indeed, what hixont is refering to is the new sheildbearer, that is actuerly pretty worth while looking at in SBG. the dwarf champion thing people are talking about i have no real idea of how it should act in SBG, as im pretty sure in WOTR it counts as a monster does it not? (not sure not a massive fan) so for SBG maybe follow a similar line as a dwarf slayer from fantasy. so some sort of crazed special rule, to do with fearless etc. not to sure really, would like to see some people conversions. I would invisage that King's Champion would be one heck of a fighting machine, after all he is the champion, the chosen man (dwarf) to represent the king in duels and combat. Maybe count him as a troll chief or another Gimili? |
