Post subject: | Easterling High Priest |
When i read true the age of the king supplement (which is awsome) i saw the Alatar model. When i saw it i thought "that could be an awsome Highpriest" I painted it in the usual easterling scheme, but then i got a problem. I ain`t to good at making House profiles. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for an easterling highpriest guy. Like a guy who leads the warpriest an stuff. A guy with magical powers etc. I know it sounds pretty lame to just request a House Profile so i`m sorry if i offended anyone with saying that i wanted people to make me a profile. Excuse my english i`m only thirteen and i´m Norwegian so i don´t always know how to express myself Thanks in advance |

So in other words, a stronger "wizard" for the easterlings? I would suggest Khamul, but because you wanted a new high priest, try to look at some of the minor wizards? (In my opinion radagast is minor) |

I thought about this and came up with a balanced profile Ulfang the High Priest (Man)------100 points -F--S-D-A-W-C-----M/W/F 4/- 4-5-1-3--4------3-3*3 Equipment: Battle Stave, Heavy Armour and an Ensorcelled Ring. Special Rules *Ensorcelled Ring: The most loyal of the minions of the Dark Lord are granted gifts for their servitude and devout loyalty. The bearer of the Ensorcelled Ring is granted a formidable ability to wield magic. This grants the wearer one free point of will per turn. However, like all gifts from the Dark Lord, the ring is tainted. If a 1 is rolled when attempting to cast magic the user suffers an automatic wound (fate points can be used to attempt to avoid the wound). Designers Note: The Ensorcelled Ring is subject to the effects of the magic power 'Your Staff is Broken!' in the same way a Staff of Power is. Magical Powers Bladewrath: See Easterling War Priests entry Transfix: Range: 12"/28cm Dice Score: 3+ Compel: Range 12"/28cm Dice Score: 4+ Arcane Bolt: Range:12"/28cm Score: 4+: A lightning bolt of arcane origin shoots from the hands of the Priest. The Arcane Bolt inflicts a single S6 hit against the target. Hope you like the profile. EDIT: Thanks for the Supplement. EDIT: Removed fury as other members expressed the same view as me on the matter EDIT: Changed profile to named character, Ulfang. |

Thanks mate. On the Profile, do you think the High Priest should have access to another magic power? Or is three enough. I think the priest should have access to Compel or another power. |

I was thinking, maybe the High Priest shouldn't have fury. I don't think he needs to have it since it is a 'common power' per se. |

I just found this thread, but I agree. Since your priest has a free Will point, he will be best used in more of a magic-support role, like Ringwraiths generally are. Fury is for "cheap" shamans that can lead a bunch of troops on a charge into enemy formations. Using it effectively would be too risky for that precious free point. Nice profile, by the way. I think I would have just said the battle stave worked like a wizard's staff of power, but I think the rest is exactly how I would have done it. Of course, I haven't kept up too well with the rules in a while, so I don't know what has changed. |

I really liked the Ensorcelled ring. I (for some reason) mean that the staffs of power was some mighty magical talismans for the istari and they only but then again that is just my meaning. |

Same here, it just seemed very Tolkienish. |

Is this supposed to be a named character? If not, then personally I'd be tempted to knock him down to 2 wounds, instead of 3, since (as far as I know) no unnamed human, elf, dwarf, or orc hero that's normal-sized gets more than 2 wounds. The profile looks good though! Definitely well balanced. |

I have updated the Profile. Thanks for the compliments on the profile. I was aiming for balance as much as possible. I was originaly going to have it as 'Stave of Power' or similar, but then I thought it should be more tolkienish, hence a ring. The Ensorcelled part is taken from the fact that Ringwraiths wield "Ensorcelled Blades". Hirumith, the Grey Knight wrote: Is this supposed to be a named character?

Thanks for the input. I am not sure that a High Priest should have 2 wounds, I feel he should have three. BUT, I think that maybe he should be a named character as you suggested, maybe some diabolical pawn of Khamul..... I am open to any reasonable name suggestions, something tolkienish would be best. Of course Beurthiel needs to agree to it being a named character. |

I agree it should be a named character i was about to post that but Hirumith beat me to it hmm names... These are all from the names of middle earth file: Yumruk, Yaban, Sacal, Kemik, Gizik One of the real easterling names? Uldor Ulfang, Brodda, Ulfast, Ulwarth, Bor. What do you think? |

Yeah, "Ulfang the High Priest" has a nice ring to it. I really like this profile, it's a great idea! |
