Last night I thought up a sneaky (and some what underhanded) tactic for a 500 pt. Grey Company army:

1. Take 20 Rangers of the North (500 pt. exactly)

1.5. Keep all of the Rangers very close together

2. When all of the the enemy gets within range...

3. Heroic Shoot! x 20 (for a total of 400 arrows coming at the enemy  )

4. Then mop up the remaining forces

First of all, is this legal?
Second of all, is this even practical?

Think you need to go and read the rules, Heroic shoot only allows you to shoot first, not additional times.

Ummm.. Heroic shoot only allows you to shoot first(as if you had piority) it also allows you to shoot if you have moved full speed. but thats it.

This is not allowed in SBG.

Yeah, unfortunately. I was thinking of maybe adding that as a house rule, 'cause at the moment Heroic Shoot is absolutely useless.

Allowing extra shots would be catastrpic as shown by this thread. Sure, heroic shooting is not the best use of might, but I've seen it used very effectively in the right circumstances.

I think you misunderstand me. I meant allowing to move full distance and still shoot.

Pretty sure you cant do that.

When im feeling particularly evil, i like to just move back 3" every turn, maximising shooting time. Ive had many a game with the enemy broken before we reach combat, but then i have abnormally good shooting phases :-D
Probably best to only do this at tournaments etc, because your regular gaming mates WILL NOT appreciate this, as i have found  I am forgiven now though i think Lol

I love this move! Although it's not "particularly evil." It's called kiting and a perfectly legitimate battle tactic. Especially when you have Galadhrim Knights and a swarm of Elven blades waiting for their turn.

Well that sucks... I heard in another thread that you could do that. O well i'm still going to say you can. But thank you for telling me you can't :)

In WoTR it allows you to shoot even if you have moved full distance, so that's probably where the confusion comes from.
