Recently my opponent has taken to shooting at the heroes and more vunerable troops behind my shield wall. 'In the Way' gives him an annoying 50% chance of hitting those weaker troops, in spite of my expensive shields! Sight rules for In The Way state that 'head, limbs or torso' must be seen by the enemy shooter, which is generally the case, I think, without having checked every shot from 'model's eye' view. So I think this is legal, but wanted to double check. Is this a standard tactic? If not, why not? |

Yes it's legal, and good tactics. Given the right conditions (S2 bows vs light armor, S3 vs heavy) it will increase casualties by 50%. |

Yeah, my Wood Elves almost always shoot at spear/pike supporters. If your shot gets thru you get a good chance at the lightly armored rear model. If your shot goes at the front lines you still have a chance, though usually need a 1 or 2 higher. Similarly with Heroes on mounts. It's usually very hard to kill a Hero with bow fire due to the higher Defense so I usually focus bow fire on normal troops and ignore Heroes. But your shots have a 50/50 chance of hitting the mount instead and those almost always have a lower (sometimes much lower) D. And shooting a horse out from under a powerful Hero is often a great tactic since it robs the Hero of expected mobility and extra attacks and may even separate him from the rest of the force. |
