Hey gang. I'm planning on playing Harad at a few tournaments coming up, just wondering what peoples opinions are on the best strategies for these guys.

So far my plan is to have a warband of Venomblade knights and serpent guard aided by the Betrayer (re-roll 1's and 2's) Also a heap of raiders and lots of archers. Thoughts?

P.S I also have a mumakul gathering dust which I don't want to waste.....

It not very helpful in terms of helping you settle on an army list but having both used and had Harad used on me I can say it is one of the most diverse list out there, there is not just one good army you can make from it.

It's troop type are massively varied and good at what they do from horde to super elite, they have a couple of cavalry choices (most lists have one or less), a couple of good wraiths and a bunch of nice low (captain level) and Mid-level heroes.

Only two real weaknesses I can think of no monsters bar the Mumak which is a lot of points and no really powerful heroes of the Glorfindel/Shagrat ilk.

So my suggestions ally in Shagrat (or Gothmog) and continue as you suggested, I'd add half trolls but that's just cause I love them

As for lists the obvious ones that come to mind are Watchers of Karna spam or Reavers but there OP and a bit obvious

No no no half-orcs are great for their points imo. Don't use many, just use some in your line of watchers. They can make the serious punch ;)

Harad is such a great list. You can tailor them to take just about anyone. Abrakhan Guard are amazing against Dwarves and any other heavy defense units. Serpent Riders are very hard hitters as well, poison arrows and watchers of Karna are highly effective as you can out shoot anyone. Mahud and Half Trolls provide your heavy troops. Basically Harad has everything, Suladan and the Hasharin are IMO nearly auto -includes as is the Golden King. With 2 out of those 3 (or all 3 if points allow) you'll be doing quite well

Abrakhan Guard are amazing when supported by spearmen! Order some before they go OOP!

You've chosen an awesome army to play! They are definitely one of the most versatile forces in the game.

I use venom blade knights and serpent guard/riders with the betrayer myself and find them to be an awesome combo. Biggest advice I would give is to load up on normal warriors, really cheap and their shooting in phenomenal!

I'm just starting a Harad army:
I start w/ 1 mumak loaded w/ 6 warriors of karna armed w/ bow and 6 1/2 trolls on repelling lines. Next, 2 muhad raiders on war camels, and 3 serpent guards. And finish w/ 8 raiders and a handful of footmen.
My problem is heros! I dont have any!

For cavalry the only valid choice is Suladan mounted I suppose. If you have a warband on foot ( I do not suggest it if you take a mumak) get Hasharin, he is a real killer. On an infantry army golden king is ideal too.

A mounted Mahud King is a very effective cavalry leader. The problem is acquiring him l

I tend to use the Knight of Umbar on armoured Fell Beast as he has a lot of fate and the armour of the sundered land which means that he does not loose a fate point if he wins a combat. His high Courage will keep your troops on the board and his harbinger of evil rule will lower the enemies, which proves particularly effective against men!

I have always had great results with Half Trolls and Abrakhan Guard (or the jelly-belly heroes, as I call them)!
