Would it be foul play to glue an axe onto my mounted Dragon Knight? Obviously the primary reason is to allow for the piercing strike. Which with his higher then usual captain level attack and fight values would allow him to deal out wounds everywhere. First off does just glueing an axe onto him give him piercing strike or do I have to remove his swords (which I would really rather not do). Secondly is this too cheesy or considered foul play? Its not like I am planning on arming all my easterlings with axes, I just thought it would spice up the Dragon Knight a bit. |

As has been discussed on this forum quite extensively it's not against RAW. You're free to do any such conversions. Is it against RAI, fluff, and cheesy? Absolutely. I applaud you for not pulling a "Give my wood - elves axes". I've got 0 respect for that but personally I wouldn't do it because it's done purely to take advantage of a loophole |

i think the rule clearly states that to find out what weapon your miniature uses you have to check what the miniature itself holds. So if you put an axe on a dragon knight its much like you are converting him witch enters a whole you subject (with who you play, what rules you follow ect ect) 1st if a miniature holds an axe then yes it can use a piercing strike 2nd (as a personal answer only) i find doing this on a dragon knight a bit of unfair play, and actually doing it to any hero isnt the most fair thing in my opinion. If you want to do it on your easterling warriors however, use easterling halberds, it is thematic, lore-wise , and a weapon inside their arsenal . |

If you converted the axe to look suitably Easterling (a shortened halberd, perhaps?) I'd allow it. |

Legally, no-one can stop you cos there isn't a ruling on it. The reason people get away with it on Corsair Reavers (and even then they still get stick), is because there isn't an official model, so no-one can tell you what they 'should' be armed with. Like I say nothing against the rules though. You might get the odd jokey comment, but if anyone makes a deal out of it they're a bit of a d-bag. |

its not -illegal- to do it just consider that its not the most fun tactic and your opponent might do the same to counter you, i would not like to see black guard of barad dur with maces or an army equipped with flails my opinion is avoid doing it on heroes atleast, its not a big deal but it can out-balance a lot of games/armies making such combinations |

A model can only have and use one hand weapon unless specified that they have two. So you'd have to convert both swords into axes. If you just glued an axe on his back, I'd probably refuse you the piercing strike. It's lazy and unsporting. |

lol mertaal!... Just what everyone was thinking... I think we are mostly in agreement here - its not really a sporting idea. I think SD's point here is very important - you must convert all weapons to be the same if the model has more than one equipped - you can't just have all the options there to pick and choose for the right situation. One hand weapon = one type of weapon; if anyone argues with this then it must be stated in their profile what weapon or amount of weapons they have. The game is balanced around races having certain options, or not having them, as well as the points & profiles, so modifying them to have all options is against the spirit of things I feel. I'd recommend a khandish type axe if you can manage that to at least give it some credibility. Iron guard are interesting in that some have swords and axes, so its fine to swap these as you like i feel - dwarves were proficient at both weapons so it doesnt move away from lore. Corsair reavers - do whatever you want with them, generally id say stick with swords and rapier types similar to GW's, but axes wouldn't be out of place (for chopping ropes from grappling hooks etc). |

Iron guard have throwing axes and swords, so they can't piercing strike with them as you can't fight with throwing weapons. |
