Post subject: | Phalanx |
So I had a question about phalanxes in general. Of course armies like Isengard and the Easterlings can phalanx better then say armies like Rohan and Harad, but my questions aren't very specific and are just about the effectiveness of phalanxes against other formations. Phalanx vs Unformed Phalanx vs Phalanx Phalanx vs Line Formation Phalanx vs Siege Equipment Surrounded Armies (Armies who's main hammer is their siege equipment with grunts surrounding them) Phalanx vs Defensive (Natural or Buildings) Any other information surrounding phalanxes would be appreciated |

In game phalanxes are generally quite weak. They cut your board control down to a third of what it would be and generally force you to approach the enemy. An uruk hai phalanx is generally very tough, especially with shaman+banner, Easterlings not so much. A major problem is also that if you fight in phalanx and lose, you are trapped. Against monsters/sorcerous blast phalanxes are a major weakness that anyone rarely abandons. In conclusion they are powerful, but make sure you can plan your army a different way too. |

I have a great easterling phalanx i use. It is lead by amdur lord of blades. I use it to augment my other shadow force. I think that is why it works. My entire army is not one big phalanx. One warband is a phalanx and the other warbands are different. Skirmishers, archers, etc., etc.. My easterling phalanx is awesome. The foundation to many of my armies and the key to victories many times. Since it is 3 deep i usually attack with 3 dice while my opponent does not. I highly recommend them is what i'm trying to say. |
