i used really thin wire, its called 'florist wire' i believe. i wrapped it around a thicker piece of wire (using wire is much better to bend it slightly so you dont end up with a perfectly straight tree which would look completely silly) and then just branched off to make the branches. after that i used wood filler to cover the wires and give it some extra texture. i might do a quick and simple tutorial on how to make them soon just to help someone out, someone who wants to make their own trees and not buy the expensive stuff :)

hello again (to the two or three people who actually read this 8) )
after not doing anything in a while i decided to make something, something with wire. so here we go, i wanted to make some kind of old, big tree- like you see in creepy movies- and made a start. this is what i got so far and hopefully will keep on adding more to it daily, Drumstick kindly suggested that i could turn that bad boy into the tree of gondor but after 4 minutes of research neither of us could find any decent pictures of it so ill just have to make it up as i go along :)

Looks good polar, you've certainly got the hang of it now. So your next step is to cover it with milliput to get your exterior tree surface? Keep it comin! 8)

Looks good, tough a few patches of grass might help to make the ground look a bit less monotonous.
And it seems like you forgot to paint a small part of the canvas. (it's in the folds, at the top of the smurf's hat  )

Yes, would also like to know that, as it might be a nice way to earn something during the holiday.

Looking forward to seeing more

That's a very good tower/hut, reminds me of that Haradrim one. Why would you want to sell spmething like this on ebay? Why not keep it?

thanks guys

@Bastion.HUN its ok :P i dont seems to have much luck with selling stuff but i always try

@aquan yep, im just adding grass now, i was waiting for the sand to dry after spraying it with hair spray. yeah the bit at the top is a real pain to get to but its actually on the inside of the model which isnt meant to be visible, i just couldnt get it to fold properly

@GothmogtheWerewolf yep, i was slightly inspired by the haradrim huts actually :D and i always sell my models on ebay, i just dont have space to keep them all but i normally keep them around a little while just to see how they perform in a battle as scenery and whether i have to modify certain parts- make them bigger, wider, etc. kind of like market research

Great work as always Polar. The trench headquarters look especially good. You certainly get the feel of a bombed out area with the withering tree's beside it.

I thought of WWII era too. Could it be used in LotR? Excellent work. 8)

@SidTheSloth i dont normally make much money. it normally depends on the size and the materials i used and i mainly sell them to make some room for another model i might make 8)
