Great job DMS,

I know its a relative side show, but that's the best fire I have ever seen painted!

I've just picked these up for myself this weekend and I'm already planning another diorama to show them off.
I just hope my painting can somewhere near this standard

First off, all this work is fantastic! So realistic!

Second, I apologise if this has been asked before but I couldn't see it anywhere else in the thread! What do you use to get the water effect on your bases? It looks awesome!

Woodland Scenics Realistic Water creates a still water effect.
If you want to add ripples / choppy water / saliva in a mouth then use Woodland Scenics Water Effects

Great job on these guys. The sculpts actually remind my of toys, or maybe a cartoon/graphic novel, rather than miniatures (an aesthetic that seems to be showing up in a lot of new GW stuff) however with the details you have painted in this isn't the case here. Job well done 8)

I'm not sure, but the pale grey skintone gives them something zombie-esque.
But I absolutely love the fire, it looks like it really glows :)

Great work Kev, love the skin tones and the blood on the apron, very effective.
The fire looks real, i recon you tipped something flammable on it and set it alite!

Thanks for all the great comments guys.

Sorry about this but I managed to get better pictures today in the daylight so had to re submit the trolls to CoolMiniOrNot which reset the voting. To those of you who voted the first time round I couldn't trouble you to hit THIS LINK and vote again. sorry lol

Saliva in the mouth is UHU glue - quite tricky to do but I'm kind of addicted to doing it now lol.
Still water as Gandalf said in an earlier post is realistic water by woodland scenics and choppy/rippling water is water effects again by woodland scenics.

Thanks guys. New photos are much better- can't beat daylight.

The figures look good. New vote cast.

Still Water is also a brand name.

The new pics are a lot better. The others had a bit too much contrast. Nice job on these brutes Kev. 8) It's a shame GW mixed up their profiles in the big rulebook!
Also good to see you practicing fire.

Oops, didn't realise that, I must have read your post wrong when we discussed this on your warg. Thanks for clarifying this and it is now on my to do list.

The skin on the trolls is great. Fantastic grittiness. I also like the blood splatter on the apron. You always manage to capture the character of the mini in your painting. It's such an outstanding skill.

Cheers Edge :)

Next batch of Rivendell elf job complete. Thankfully this is the last of the bows and swords for this particular client (although he is talking about sending me 90 more of these guys for repaint jobs  ) Next up is 35 spearmen, 2 sets of command, Erestor, Gil-galad and Elrond.

I'm being driven insane by gold lines. can't wait until this job is done :)

Much cool. Very elves.

Your consistency is something to be marveled at! To get all these elves all at the same high standard is truly very skillful.

Utterly awesome. Each is a little masterpiece but the effect of them en masse is mouthwatering. Now that's my kind of army :)
