Cheers guys.

Brian, yeah, it's the bad part. Doing close-ups really shows the shortcuts/laziness/missed bits. Although, I do have to say, I'm quite pleased with the armour, as I didn't drybrush, but painted the scales individually...

Dave, it might be a while mate. I'm kinda tempted to just finish off the other 12 WE's, the Banner and Legolas first, just to get them crossed off the list.

Larry, All Elves are blonde? maybe Tolkien's were, but these are my Elves, and I really couldn't be gassed doing the full 30 Wood Elves with matching do's. So I figured a few grey/white haired ones, and a couple of redheads just to mix things up a little.
Yeah, maybe Thranduil does look a little bit bright, but at least his cloak is dark enough to wrap around his white coat. Think of it like Space Marines... How come all the ones that get promoted and live longer survive numerous firefights when they run about with no helmet on...

Jack, I mean thankfully I only have to paint another 40ish Elves, because I hate them and really want to be working on more Mordor stuff.
Oh, and yeah, battle reports. You mean some small kid kicking my butt in print. Can't wait...

T.A - only 40ish. It's a small number when I look at my collection as a whole...

Finished off the bases for all the remaining stuff, and started assembling Arwen, Celeborn, HE Command and the Spearmen. Started doing the robes and skin on Gandalf and Saruman, and a little bit of work on the HE characters metals.

Try and get pics up later.

Brian, I hate you...

:P

I don't think I'll get the same finish with drybrushing and ink baths...

There is no way I could ever paint like that... It is very nice, not sure about the turquoisey colours, but definitely way, way, (way, way, way, way, way) past the standard I hope to achieve, especially if I want to get all these guys done.

To tell the truth, I'm just not 'into' the Good guys at all. And the only thing I like less than Good guys, is tree-hugging, pointy-eared, better-than-thou Elves. Until I started this project, the only Good minis I had painted was a box of AotD. I much prefer the Evil side, and maybe one day that is the kind of finish I'd aspire too do, but not at the moment. I'm finding it probably more of a chore than a challenge to get motivated to paint these Elves.

Still, I have made some progress over the course of the day. Just some base coats, and a wash here and there, but hey, at least it's a start.

And I also managed to get started on some terrain.

What bonds foamcard and plasticard better than any glue? Double-sided carpet tape obviously...
The rock spire still needs a fair amount of work, but it hasn't had much so far, other than a few cuts and slices. Oh, and a squeeze to break up the squareness a bit...

Two small and one Large wood.

I like the ELven heroes so far :D. But Saruman...He was white so Suggest slowly adding bleached bone with Brown until you get to pure bleached bone.........Don't you hate it when people do that to you :P . But really, Saruman's hair and skin is AWESOME
What exactly is that big thing the flesh coloured thing, is it a Rock?

That's quite ambiguous. We all certainly hope it's a rock, even though I don't really wan to know. :P

Sarumans face certainly caught my eye if that makes sense. An interesting start, the cloak colour isn't my favourite but with the detail on the face as it is, I could live with any colour for the robes. Great stuff! :D

you really have "the knack" for doing faces (or so it seems) but i think saruman's cloak is a little dark...

Is that because he hasn't finished it yet, perhaps?

And if his being brown wasn't enough of a hint...
Even unfinished, your minis are amazing! Not saying anything about the finished ones, even if I do love those elves (yours, not Brians.)

Wait! What do you mean thats NOT Radagast the Brown?

I dunno, some people. How many of you have actually tried painting a flat bone colour over black? Anybody that has, let me know how that went. And if he's the White, why would I be painting him Bone?

At least Nate seems to be the voice of reason, I mean, somebody has to be, and it's guaranteed not to be me.

Remember, WIP thread!

Sarumans face is astonishing
Dont just go straight to Bleached Bone on Sarumans cloaks, add a couple of highlights of browns before building up to Bleached Bone and lastly White.

2am!? is that immense enthusiasm - or do you just need to be sectioned?

the face is really good, the detail under the eyes gives the face a good look.
