Here's a little bit of work I just did, we're looking just at the chainmail here, not the armor.

I like how this came out. Currently, I'm just working on different colors and scheme's for my large gondolin army. They are going to be proxied from gw's galadhrim.

actually, now that i'm thinking of it, since I am thinking of potential color scheme's, i'll ask you guys for potential.

The only thing that is mentioned in the silmarillion is that the army of gondolin had "bright mail."

With that said, I still want my armor to be silver based for sure. I was also thinking of using white (maybe on the main cloak) and some blue's or blacks.

Very nice indeed! That blue-tinted scale-mail would look good with blues and whites. - it's a cold colour which would certainly work well alongside your overall look on Fingolfin's Elves. I'd avoid black apart from on belts, gloves and boots as it's a b*gger to paint well on cloth.
I seem to remember that the bit in the Silmarillion where Turgon's army arrives at the Nirnaeth mentions the king's guard being a 'phalanx' so obviously spear or pike armed for those, and I also remember something about 'bright mail'... I must go and check up on the details...

ok guys, here is a elf I quickly painted up with this color scheme. Mind you, I didn't take these pics outside, so plz excuse the slightly crappy photos.
-white cloak
-mithril silver armor with necron blue shading
-chainmail is like my previous post and pics

My question for you guys is, what color should I paint the tunic, and sword hilt? I was thinking a grey or even a bright blue for the tunic. I wanted to shy away from my previous blue color's I used for fingolfin's elves. Want something new lol

Light blue will do it. Anyway there is no way of guessing If you like it or not until you start painting.

Tricky... A light blue would need to be carefully chosen to keep the impact of the blue washed armour... maybe a darker blue would work?

You could use grey, but you'd need to be careful with the shade otherwise the impact of the cloak might get lost...

A darker blue would at least tie them in thematically with your other Elves...

Of course - and this might sound wacky and wild - you could try purple - that'd tie them in with your other Elves too and, depending on the shade, could be cool with that armour... Bit of a risk, that idea, but it might work...

How about a buff colour with a simple blue freehand trim.

I have spoken to Mrs Gandlaf who is everything when it comes to matching colours, believe me I know. You will be surprised how many times she has corrected me on colour choices.
She would go for a dark autumnal red brightening to a red/orange at most.

go tell him to make more silmarillion art haha

anyway, I thought I might as well give you guys what I ultimately want my entire huge elven army to look like, here we go:

The main leader: Fingolfin (you've seen him already)
-Current High elves=Fingolfin's troops
-Gil-Galad and Elrond models=various captains for fingolfin's troops

now, here comes the juicy part,

Gondolin army:
-Turgon(army leader)=Rumil model
-Turgon's House of King=Guards of Galadhrim Court models
-Ecthelion and his house of the fountain=New GW mirkwood captain and soldiers will be the various armored GW mirkwood models
-Glorfindel=mounted GW glorfindel model, his troops will be the mounted Galadhrim knights
-Gondolohodrim=the 15 companies of Galadhrim I have lol

-I also have a bunch of Galadhrim with helmet let heads, I'll be using those guys as the various leaders of other House's of Gondolin.
Using these for reference:
http://shyangell.deviantart.com/art/The ... -307522956

http://rvdricvs.deviantart.com/art/Twel ... -507040894

I won't be including Tuor or Maeglin though in my army.

Fingolfin's other son: Fingon(Elladan on Horseback)
-His troops=GW's rivendell knights
-With Fingon, will be Gwindor, which will be proxied as the rivendell knight with no helmet

Finrod(Finarfin's son), i'll be using Thunderbolt mountain miniatures for the army of Nargothrond.
Finrod= Wood Elf noble mounted
http://www.thunderboltmountain.com/prod ... water-lily

His troops, the sunburst troops from Thunderbolt Mountain

That basically sums up my army aspirations for now haha

What do you guys think?
