Thanks guys, started two new ones tonight, another repo troll, gotta do the resculpt on his arm and make his spear and he's done.

Also Aragorn, commander of Helms Deep, I wanted something more inspiring but not in the full tilt running pose. I'm debating wether to give him Anduril and go the book route.

And if anyone has suggestions how to do the Balrogs wings I'm all ears, also if I forgot to quote anyone, I'm sorry, still figuring out this message board :)

Troll progress, only have to resculpt the other side of his neck, add the butt to the spear and he's off to paint, hope you like him/them

Great Cave Troll. Very reminiscent of the film.

Some very tidy greenwork there. I'm loving the conversions.

Nice work, it's hard to tell what the textures are like on that green! Can't wait to see it all painted. :)

Love cave trolls. You've done some great work on them there!

Hopefully it turns out all right, I'm worried about my brown troll though, got him off ebay, could not get all the paint to come off so that's why he's getting a heavier re-skin to bring details back out.

Thank you! The spear jab was a pretty simple set of mods, don't know why you don't see more done. Now I just have to track down the troll with raised hammer over his head and my trio is complete.

New stuff, one troll is all but finished. GK is 99% finished.
For whatever reason I got a bug to make some Grimhammers last night, I'll use the caped one for Thrain till his official model comes out. These are kitbashed from Empire bitz, lizardmen, Perry War of The Roses infantry, among others. Hopefully they mesh well with the new Dwarves.

Woah, those Grimmhammers are awesome! The second one looks epic! I think they will go well with gw's, they look pretty similar to what I've seen of them. The trolls and goblin king look good too. :yay:

all the conversions look pretty good, I especially like the troll/goblin king.

One thing though is the chain-mail on the Witch King. It might just be the photo but it looks a bit flat. The trick I've found id to drag each hole and then use the next one to fill it in. Then with the next row to drag it back the opposite direction.

I'm really digging your Cave Troll conversions. And the dragon looks really dynamic (I love the dragons in RoF...best 'realistic' built dragons since Dragonslayer IMO). But I have to say the Balrog has stolen the show in my opinion. I'd absolutely love to see some more pics of how you altered the pose on him. As for your question on the wings, I'd almost suggest just doing the skeletal sections and leaving it at that. As you said it's really hard to think of anything for a smoke look to the wings. The only things I've been able to think of would be far too fragile. But then again, we have some really creative people around here and maybe someone will have an idea that works for you.

Your sculpting work is inspiring! I'm so glad the rules have evolved where such nice looking models are worth playing again.

Glad you like them! I shelved the dragon and Balrog for the meantime, till I catch up a bit on my backlog. I did find a potential solution for the wings. Found a halloween plastic skeleton toy that I may take the arm and leg bones out to avoid having to sculpt all of that, but then I would loose the armature. Hence why he's shelved till I decide :)

Thanks for the tip, the, witchking is an older project I recently primered. Now I'm thinking of redoing it again. I appreciate the constructive criticism :)

So updates. I meant to add Dwarve three to the first post but I messed up his scales on the first try, sorry there's not a WIP shot for him. Anyway, they're all primed now and ready to paint along with the two trolls. I'm debating wether to add them to my backlog, or jump them in line just to paint something...
Here they are

Brilliant conversions! Incredible character in each one. Regarding the scale armour, I didn't even notice it wasn't a part from another model! I'd like to see them painted!

Really like the Grimhammers, the third one's helmet really fits well, despite how different it is.
My one criticism is your Aragorn, which appears to have a very large hand attached so Anduril, though it may just be me...

Thanks I was really nervous if it was going to work, I couldn't find an empire head I was happy with, so he got the helmet. Classic medieval meets traditional full face mask with a bretonian helmet boar cut to size.

Aragorn-That's actually the original figures hand and ranger sword, I am going to swap it out for Anduril once I find a proper donar, and then I'm going to make a mounted version. The Warg Attack Aragorn just isn't cutting it for me anymore.
