very nice models indeed. I was wondering whether it is the flash or not, but the berserkers legs seem shiny. I love his pecks :lol:

lol, but maybe you could highlight his legs? other wise topjob!

Once again thanks for the input, its very helpful so that I can keep on improving my work.

@Lorderkenbrand: I don't think it's so much the flash, but it's probably the light source that I'm using which is hitting the flat spots on the model. I'll try and make sure that next update it doesnt happen as much. However you are right, the legs do look sort of neglected from here, so I'll make sure i ramp up the highlights on that.

Tomorrow's update will feature the second Beserker from the blister plus the new highlighted legs from the previous mini.

Alrighty...so maybe tomorrow's update took a little bit longer than expected

In any case, I've been painting up some more scouts, and I had the battle report to type up(and uni unfortunately) which all hindered my progress. So heres this weeks update!

Once again it's all I could do with the time given to me. However I think I may have to wash the lower armour regions again because they dont look suitably dark enough.

In any case, I decided to line up all the Uruk warriors from each 'generation' of painting experience that I've had. So 1st Gen Uruks will be the ones that I started the hobby with, while 3rd Gen Uruks are what I've accomplished basically in the last...2 months. You could say its taken me quite a while to get to this stage of painting...and I still have quite a lot to learn :lol:

anyways, I'll try and get the next stage done soon.

I'm a bit lost with this one !

The skin tone is perfect ! Nuff Said !

However, on the initial pictures, the colours and tones used on the helmet look good, but then on the latter pictures, the helmet looks completely silver ?
My suggestion for Beserker helmet would be to basecoat Black, highlight Tin Bitz and a very light highlight of Boltgun.
A hand of Saruman will finish it off perfectly !

Anywho...

I think thats actually the light source which is changing the colour of the metals. In any case, I'll probably go over with another wash of Black Ink and Scorched Brown again to make it look more grungy

I'm a little nervous about the free-hand, but I shall be trying it on this model!

Looking good HS, and DBs right, the skin looks great. I too use Black, Tin Bitz and Boltgun (with a very small highlight of chainmail for the edges) followed by a wash for the armour.

As for the free hand "hand", don't sweat it, it's very easy and if you practice it a few times on a plain surface you'll be spreading white hands around like crazy!

Well, after sitting down and watching that sly little zerker that I have, I think it's probably time for a really, really GOOD REST. What I've done instead is painted up loads of Uruk Scouts, and I'm currently painting most of the fellowship models from the MoM boxset. So the first update will be....

Legolas of the MoM set, I've been painting for about 4 hours in total(if you ignore the breaks

) and I'm pretty happy with him so far. All I need to do is paint the bracers and his boots, do his bow, AND finish up one strand of hair...and then figure out what to do for his base....I'm thinking about theming all the bases to the MoM...just so it looks nice when I introduce the game to others.

In any case, here are the WiP's for Legolas.

I also managed to finish painting Merry, Pippin and the LAST one of my Armoured Woodelves(FINALLY...that guys been in my possession for about a year without a paintjob..)

I really like the Legolas miniature. You have used basic colours however they are well contrasted and look good together. Nice job on them all !

They've got to be the best skin tones that I've seen on an Uruk. I'll try that when I next paint a berzerker.

Time for another update!!

Bit of a bugger this one, as you can see, my highlights are no where near good enough, as you can barely see them

I'll probably have to keep on increasing the amount of bleached bone in the mix.

For some reason I just decided to start painting this guy again...I had given up on him about 3 months ago when I was having some really wierd issues with paint mixing. Now all I have to do is finish off some weapon highlights, paint his loin cloth and paint his toe nails and he should be all done

The last thing I'd like to do is point you towards the first Berserker I painted in my gallery, I took the advice of increasing the highlights on the legs and loin cloth, at the moment I'd say he's probably the best Uruk I've ever painted :shock:

I love the bright red! Not to keen on the skin of the troll though. A bit too bright and elfy in my opinion. Keep us updated!

Red can be such a hard colour to paint sometimes, but that is really nice and rich on Boromir !

The red on Boromir's cloth looks great. did you use Citadel foundation red for achieving this tone?

Believe it or not, I just used normal GW paints for that. I started off with a basecoat of 50:50 scorched brown and red gore, and started highlighting using more and more red gore in each highlight stage. Time consuming, but it works.

Next Update:

Yesterday after doing my assignment for writing literature, I decided to tackle the Beserker again. I'm pretty happy with the result, and all I can say is that Beserkers are a godsend in the fact that they have so much detail and are seriously the easiest thing to highlight ever :lol:

I had to increase the brightness for the second pic, but the lamp seems to have brightened up a certain area of his back waay too much.

All I need to do now is the leather areas, base , and of course that white hand!

Very nice clean job once more. I like smooth highlighting. And some rusty metallics.

One thing you can consider - when taking a photo takke a light source further away or use white/black balance in your camera, this will stop pics from being so bright
