Thanks Dorthonion... your city was one of the many beautiful examples i used for a reference (but yours remained as a major influencer), What you see is the extent of my ambition... no more levels and no more walls... however, if i find myself playing massive battles among several people in, say, a war of the ring setting, i may extend the walls lengthwise to accommodate... but seeing as it is only my friend and myself who play lotr while the rest of the surrounding gaming community feels content with 40K, i don't see that happening...

As always BucklandBrewer, thanks for the kind words.

well coming back from another long break (having absolutely nothing to do with the fact the everyone i ever knew playing this game has quit and there literally isnt a hobby shop within at least 150 miles from me :-X ) i have decided to scale down the great city. only going to have the front walls and buildings behind.

but on a brighter note i decided to do a little painting this last week and have a wip of gandalf the white i sculpted using ebob's as a reference (i just had to have his lol)

as always criticism is always welcome

How could you have dropped a beauty like that for over a year ?!
(lol, I only have to look at my work-in-progress-corner to realize I'm not much different myself...)

Nice Gandalf, great Gate - I would recommend scratch building some of the larger trebuchets for the walls - they scare the goblins much more than the Battlecry variant.

thanks everyone! sorry for the disappearance... it seemed this last year no one was playing lotr anymore and all the hobby stores in town closed so i had no one real reason to have it until a new store opened and it seemed a vast majority played wotr! lucky me!

so i decided to dust it off an continue this time with the goal of having everything done by christmas 2011!

i know i always loved the project bt im sure even you know how one project for so long can be tedious :-D

i was thinking the same. having those smaller ones in the back just seem puny... but i actually decided to lose the second ring for now and actually cut them down and use them for the front walls. it gives an overall better look, plus it is a lot easier to use that way for wotr

and thanks everyone, your feedback always inspires

i would jst like to say i think that your gandalf is sublime and the gates are brilliant they look so realistic just like the film and the scale seems to be good as well if you could put a minature next to the gates that would help thanks :)
