I've got a couple mordor trolls I'm putting off out of fear of doing the skin. What steps did you take for the chief's skin?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

@Ring_of_Gyges
Start with a base coat of dwarf flesh mixed with scorched brown.
Mix more dwarf flesh in as you go and make sure you layer with a heavily watered down mix.
It will need many many layers but this way you can pinpoint the tone you want.
Last layers are dwarf flesh mixed with bleached bone (also heavily watered down).
Drybrush with a lighter mix of dwarf flesh and bleached bone to finish it off.

Hope this helps, but I hate troll skin also.
Key is to take it step by step and make sure you can adjust as you go along :)

Why not paint some other hobbit's while I'm at it.

I normally dont get to use a lot of color but I like the purple cloak and yellow-ish shirt on Merry.

Been focussing on building an army of Mordor and Gondor but I won't pass on a opportunity to reinforce my first army, Isengard.
9 Beserkers, 6 Crossbows and Sharku on foot and mounted.

Stripped them yesterday, base coated them this morning and just finished the bases.
Lets see how many I can get done tomorrow. :twisted:

That is interesting, I always work from head down to base (base being the last thing I work on)...keeps me motivated when I do well with the head. :)

I do the bases first so I can't mess up the paint job when drybrushing the sand.
On the models themselves I paint the largest areas first, like cloaks, armor and flesh/fur, again due to my rather rough method of drybrushing :P

Merry and Sam look top notch, love it! The Uruk-hai are coming along nicely too, the basing on them is pretty sweet. 8)
