I have tried warm white, cold white and even neon yellow and green.
The warm white looks like a spirit to me :)

Nice work, but I think you can improve on your bases. They seem to be plain brown or plain black or... Try drybrushing the sand and using different colours. The models look good, so you have no excuses. ;)

Just some random things I've been doing lately, also tried posting without creating an atachment so we'll see how that will go :o

Mostly I've been trying OSL and have used magnets to stick the balrog and the troll for easy base switching and painting

I agree that the OSL on the bats looks best. If anything a light touch of orange near the base will help.

why did you repaint the balrog-base? i really liked the firy glow in the cracks... :(
i also fear, that you went a bit over the top with the palantir... I'm not really fond of the lot of red there..
the bats though look really nice!

I think I'm gonna add them back pretty soon as to why is because I had done some major remodelling in the areas around the feet to fit the magnets and didn't really want a contrasting edge, as for the palantir I see what you mean but I don't really know what to do, a black piedestal is just so boring as I might use it as objective, any help would be appreciated 8)

A nice idea to add the Orc, it adds that extra dimension to the piece. The water h been done nicely and overall pretty damn good.
I bet your chuffed ?

The OSL on the bats is very effective. Did you paint the eye of Mordor on that Palantir or am I imagining things? If you did it looks amazing.
