My entry for the March painting Competition, they are great figures, really well sculpted. The arms on some can be attached to different figures.

It's not yellow, Snakebite Leather, I think it looks more yellow because of the light.

I know :) Still not a fan of it as "pure" cloth colour. I like to give highlights and drybrushes with snakebite leather for example on bestial brown. But that's just my taste ^^

Oh, it must be the photo, all my figures are shaded and highlights put on by toning not dry brushing.

I only tend to dry brush beards and bases

Tom, The hobbit Troll.

This is my first attempt at using the Vallejo Medium Glaze for colour blending.
A good demo video by Vallejo on youtube, well worth watching.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH6K297EWnI

it took me a while to get used to it, my tip would be to use 2 brushes, one with the mixed paint on and one dry one to blend. Also i find it works better to blend wet dark colours onto a lighter one, and still use the traditional method of light on to dark.

I still haven't finished the base, any CC appreciated.

Fabulous painting! This colour scheme (esp. the skin tones) makes him look so much better (and more trollish) than the original GW one!!

The Erebor Dwarves look fantastic, you have really brought out the details.

I also like your rendition of Tom, the skin cetainly looks perfect.

I have no qualms on the painting of the straps, only the colour choice. the red & yellow make him a bit like a cartoonish giant, who would look right at homw in a WH Empire Army, or climbing down a beanstalk.
