Ok.. so have i been forgotten by any of you guys? =D So I'm back.. gonna start on this project.. I've realized a lot has changed.. Even the game play has evolved.. Gosh.. haha Oh well.. this got me working on my actually first terrain i did years back.. I might not build the whole thing but probably just the Gatehouse and the causeway.. Perhaps I'll try to do the outer circle too.. Too big a project.. I don't have the space to put it.. =D so stay tune guys.. Here's what I've come up so far.. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_LnOCvWrxmT8/S_OgvdL9TYI/AAAAAAAAASk/CGkPKwbgFlk/s1600/Picture.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_LnOCvWrxmT8/S_OgvhIwqXI/AAAAAAAAASs/FZXuDfv5W-A/s1600/Picture1.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_LnOCvWrxmT8/S_OgwAmDBjI/AAAAAAAAAS8/pT_QmwyK2VE/s1600/Picture2.jpg I've included links for the actual size of the drawings just so in case you guys wanna use it as a template |

Mate! I remember you and your fantastic buildings quite well ah those were the days; when there were 3 or 4 haldirs' running round the forums :p I'll be watching this with earnest as I'm looking to make a helms deep of my own for scenario play. To that end I think you should also have a stab at thedeeping wall eh eh eh |

Post subject: | space is a problem |
I am in the early stages of planning Helms deep too. I have one of the gate house models GW produced some time ago. I thought of expanding the curtain wall to the rock face. I also wanted to make a junction with the Deeping wall. Most of the battle take place there and around the cause way and gate. Space is a problem for me as well. I Know I want to build the whole thing but I know I have to dig up the floor in the work shop and pour a new slab first. Oh Did I mention paint the house. |

T Quote: o that end I think you should also have a stab at the deeping wall eh eh eh Wink
I agree. The deeping wall is fairly easy to improvise. A strait wall with towers at both ends is useful. I thought about a junction to the keep wall that was just on a level surface. I know I will never be happy with that. However it would be fine just to play out the scenario a few times and won't take up that much space. |

Yes you are right, In the movie the wall is curved and there is no tower on the west side. But if you going to improvise the battle field You could use what you already have or build something you could use for something else. This is a link from an article from 1996: http://larsen-family.us/~1066/helmsdeep.html http://larsen-family.us/~1066/wargamepi ... epgame.jpg The author has his own set of rules and scenarios for Most of the Battles of Middle Earth. The are not hard to covert LOTRSG This link is to a drawing by JRRT Of Helms Deep with a strait wall and 3 towers with a cave entrance on the west side. The wall has wooden hording and may be a wooden palisade. http://www.tolkien.ru/pictures/pbjrrt/helm_s_deepm.jpg I am going to copy the one in the movie. But all I need for the one in the article is a foam hill for my Mighty Fortress Model |

it's a nice castle, but not helmsdeep, im sorry:) |

That is actually what Tolkien pictured Helm's Deep as, in the film they misunderstood the area about the tower & where it was placed. But nowadays people just know it as the hornburgh built into the mountain along with the castle. If you read over his work it's very interesting - & the attention to detail is astonishing! but hey, a Helm's Deep is a Helm's Deep ( if that makes sense ) Drum @donuthare; hows the mountain coming along on your HM, or are we having a long tea break? lol |

Very nice clean work. The brick work is top notch. How do you plain to approach the vaulted ceiling in the gate? Do you think the balsa wood will be strong enough for the gate to work correctly? Do you have something in mind to make the gate stronger when you detail the back side of the door? I am looking forward to your next post. |

I have no idea of the gate.. but as for the roof top.. i've roughly an idea on how its gonna work.. haha =D so how about this.. i'll just go draw some brick works on it.. =D |

In some ways, it is great to see the fastest terrain builder in the world back in action. In other ways, it makes me feel bloody guilty.... My only quibble - I would have made it bigger... but that's just me trying to do it all LARGE again |
