Post subject:  WIP Printable Gondor Buildings

I thought i'd already posted a bit on here about my gondor buildings, but I can't find the post anywhere, so I'll just put what I'm up to here. I'm working on printable thick-paper (thin card) models for Gondor style buildings at the moment. The current model I'm working on is a Gondor style tower.

The texture is pretty basic on this one, and I'm still working out the archways, as the ones on the middle floors were too small for putting people behind them. I did a bit of free-hand cutting to enlarge the archways a bit, but I think I still need to enlarge them further, before getting a final size for them.

Anyway, here's some photos of the first Gondor building as I constructed it.

I looked at your blog. You have some very good original ideas. I wish I had known about it last summer when my nephew was visiting. He really liked the Starwars miniatures game.Your map ideas would have come in handy.

Made some more changes to the tower - now the arches are bigger and wider, so the figure fits behind them better. I also tried to make the archways a bit more defined, putting a thin border around some of them. I'm thinking the stonework texture I applied to the walls of the tower is pretty low-resolution, so I might try making a more detailed brickwork texture for the walls.

Those are great - I wonder how well the templates would translate onto plasticard. I'd like to make a few.

I don't see why not. They would work equally well with foam core or MDFB.

That's what I thought, I have some plates left, so if I have time this week, I'll make some Harad buildings.

Thanks for the comments guys!
I'm on a break from mini-related stuff for a week or so, caught up in reading some books at the moment. But I'll update as I assemble some more things. Once I've got a group of buildings done, I'll be sure to upload a pdf :)
