With 37 minature on the way, including some Giant Spiders and a Warg Chieften for the expansion of my Moria and Allied Contingent Army, I have decided to start a W.I.P thread.

As well as the Moria stuff there will also be my Paint-Off minis, my upcoming conversion project and the never ending WIP,my Dragon.

Enjoy the upcoming minatures and feel free to leave comments and suggestions.

Regards

Cal

gobbo's first i'd say. there boring and you'll need a lot of 'm, so it can get a drag. paint 'm first and reward yourself by painting a bit on the spiders/dragon after you've finished an X amount.

at least thats how i would do it. :)

I can only choose one of them to paint straight away as the others are going to be my christmas presents. Also, I would prefer to paint the Goblins second after the spiders since both Wargs and Gobbos come in boxes which can be wrapped easily, otherwise I have to wait 10 days to paint those wonderful Spiders.

I would say paint the spiders first to get you started and then continue with gobbos and finish with the wargs. 8)

How about comprimise. Since most of the people that have voted so far want me to paint goblins first, I'll paint my goblin drummers first. :)

I'd like to see how you paint the Spiders. But I look forward to seeing whatever you start working on! :)

Spiders would be a nice start since you can paint them up in a variety of colours and because if ichoose the spiders I have 4 minis to paint instead of 2 and a drum. Either way both choices result in the same point cost for a scenario. 100 points of spiders, 100 points for drum.

Nice work! The dragon looks quite glossy, though...probably just the camera flash. ;)

Keep it up. 8)

They look quite nice. They are all quite glossy, as Anduril said, it may just be the flash but it looks like too much wash to me, having done the same thing myself. The colors on the warg are nice, another layer of drybrushing might help fix the gloss. You may want to also repaint the corpse as the clothing are just too shiny. The crown on the dragon looks quite interesting though it is quite hard to see in the picture.

I've tried to mutt the colours on the dead body, I've only done one wash on the dead ranger. The gloss of the Dragon is because of the flash since it has been to dark to take any good pictures in natural light.

Thanks for the compliments on the crown, I'll try to get a picture of the crown. It is a small piece of wire which I twisted round a piece of dowl rod, I then added some green stuff to it to make it thicker and create a piece to put a "crown jewel".

It's only been 3 months but, here are some more WiP pictures.
I added 'bow-string' to the bows of my new archers (made from sewing thread). I undercoated all of the archers (well the ones from the box of warriors I got for Christmas) and have painted two test paint scheme archers. Only 22 more to paint. I am still highlighting and basing the Wild Wargs.

The undercoated archers.

The test Minis next to one of my prowlers.

Still need to post pictures of the updated Wargs and a repainted Durburz model but that can be for tomorrow or Monday.

Yours

Cal

P.S. Sorry for the large undercoated models pictures. I have tried to resize them but my computer isn't playing ball.

I like the bow strings a lot and the painting looks good too. I prefer the traditional red scheme personally. 8)

Thanks Josh, I managed to kill a good 15 minutes gluing the string and the arrows onto the goblins.

Hmm... Maybe I should just keep them red then (or maybe I'll put up a poll). I intend on using them as Prowlers which is why I glued the bow-strings on in order to distinguish them from the horde. I was thinking that they would be a band of Goblin mercenaries led by my bow wielding captain.

The prowlers look good and the bowstrings are a nice touch.

Now there's an idea. I might just do that. Thanks for the feed back aqan.

Another small update. I repainted my Durburz over the weekend and have some more pictures. He still needs a few highlights on the skin and a wash on the cloth. It was already uploaded to my gallery but it is still part of my WiP.

Image

Wargs and the Warg Chieften will be next: based, highlighted and washed! The chieften is near completion with highlights in the face, highlights added to the victim and the base finished.

Personally I think the skin is a bit too bright. A Devlan Mud wash (followed by some highlights) would darken the skin tone and add some much needed shading.
