Howdy folks Ive been a long time lurker of these forums but I thought the new source books and my new armies would be a great reason to sign up. Im George and Im currently in my third year at uni in Kent. I love the lord of the rings films and I am slowly getting through the books. Im currently working on 2 armies: Mins tyrith and a Minas Morgul army which will hopefully turn out good enough for armies on parade this year. First are a couple of pictures of my minas tyrith army. I am going for speed and quantity over quality for these guys - I went a little over board when buying the army and I hve over 1000 points ... Next is the test model for the Minas Morgul army. Bits of the red are a little rough because I didnt use as many layers as I should have done but I just wanted to get an idea of what they were going to look like. I am going to use some warriors of the dead as spectres to avoid having the same 3 poses over and over again. It also works out a little cheaper which is also nice. I have a couple of shades and some spectres and wights on order so they will be painted in the near future. I plan to add the witch king on fell beast aswell because it just wouldnt be Minas Morgul without him. Please comment and criticise as you see fit. Any suggestions are welcome Cheers |

Looking good mate. That red cloth on your warrior of the dead looks awesome! If there's one thing I could say, it would be to try and get a bit more colour consistency on the shield close to the tree emblem (on your warriors of Minis Tirith) |

Brilliant ghost. You'll probably need around 1000 pts (assuming WOTR, as you pictured them on movement trays) for a proper game, so you don't have too much MT anyway . |

Hello again folks Thanks for the comments and questions. For those who are interested the shields are dead simple. Simply highlight chaos black buy adding in increasing amounts of adeptus battle grey. Then after the final layer of pure grey(just around the edges) wash the whole shield with very watered dow chaos black. This makes the nice shadow around the tree but also tones the shield down a bit. For the stripped/wood grain effect when you highlight use the same mix but with vertical lines that get thinner with each layer of highlight... If i remember I will take photos for a tutorial when I do the next batch. Also the cloth is equally simple. Its Charadon granite basecoat highlighted up to khemri brown - just something a little different from the traditional colour scheme. Anyways, I have been busy painting this bolt thrower today. Pretty simple but one of my favourite LOTR minis I think. I also painted the bases of a few of my finished guys and painted a banner. The pictures of the banner didnt come out too well so I will havve to redo them and include them with my next update, You should still be able to see him mixed in with my first fully completed warband. To finish off, I spent my afternoon off assembling the bulk of my spectre/wraith army. Not sure what else I will include yet... suggestions more than welcome Let me know what you think |

Very good painting. I think you should convert plastic WoLA and Orcs into Spectres rather than AotD but it doesn't look too bad. Besides the painting is just as good as on your WoMT (I agree with DMS) |
